attacked lvl 5 npc with 700 ballistas and lost 46 of them.

archery lvl 8,
hbr lvl 7.

i've read in many posts that 500 should be enough with lvl 8 archery to take npc lvl 5 without losses.

anyone can comment?

at lvl 8 archer ur hbr should b 4/5/6 get archery to 9

I'm not sure if 9a and 8 hbr works but for 10 archery u need 8/9 hbr

I use 800 ballistas and dont have a problem lv 10 archery and lv 5 hbr

Check out the "NPC Farming Discussion for Non Noobs" thread that's stickied at the top of this page. The second post lists which combinations of HBR and Archery work, and which don't. It has to do with the screwiness of the battle mechanics.

why would anyone bother getting HBR above lvl 5?

it ruins the effectiveness of your Ballistas... (because for whatever reason ballistas dont stand and fire... they slowly creep foward)

no they don't, but they stop to close tho the enemy with the wrong archery/hbr combo

Either way, it helps cavalry, not jus' ballista; and you can still have succesful attacks w/ ballista w/ lv10 HBR, as long as your Archery is up to scratch. Like Triogorn said; read the post in the Guides section; it has all the combos of Archery/HBR you need to know for lv5 NPCs.

Take your archery level, divide it in half and round down, and that's the highest NPC level you can hit without losses.
