Thread: What Not To Build In Secondary Cities

I agree with Quaneh and Severitas about the buildings to build and what is not necessary after all researches are accomplished. I wanted to add something I haven't seen anyone else mention here about Inns.

Ever wonder how the top players have a level 250+ attack hero? Besides attacking people and conquering cities all day to get experience, there's another way to get a high level hero: the level 1 Inn.

I like to have 1 or 2 level 1 Inns in my account (not 1 or 2 in each city). You only get 1 hero offered but your Inn can be demolished in like 2 minutes or less and rebuilt back to level 1 with the free speedup, giving you new heroes every few minutes. I've noticed that these heroes are higher in attribute than a level 10 Inn with 10 crappy heroes in it.

What I look for is a level 1 hero with 60 attribute in any of the categories. When I find a level 1 (or even a 2 for that matter) with a 60 in an attribute, I hire them and recheck the Inn for another such hero.

I use that level 1 to attack level 5 npcs over and over WITHOUT upgrading him for many attacks. When his loyalty starts dropping faster, I'll go ahead and upgrade him till all the points are spent. You can get a level 60 or 70 hero with a very high attack, political or intel attribute around 130+ or better very quickly.

    IN A MATURE LVL10 ALL-PURPOSE CITY
    Barracks: 15
    Cottages: 9
Everything else: 1 of each (no stable, inn, forge or workshop)

Warehouses are only a pain in everyones butts after they conquer a city. If ur worried about losing resources, build up defences and fill all the construction ques before u log off. If ur being attacked, all u have to do is run as much of ur resources out as u can, and then recall the tranporters right after the attack hits.

I didnt build an embassy because my main colony is the most important, and i can reinforce the second one with soldiers from the first if necessary, and I have 2 barracks in each colony to build back up soldiers fast.

Its not like a person could take my loyalty down to 0 fast.

I also didnt build a marketplace. It only takes 2-3 minutes to transport stuff from one colony to the other so not a big deal to move things to and from the marketplace in the first city.

I have everything else, and 2 barracks and 2 warehouses in each colony.
I built warehouses because you can never have enough soldiers to hold back every enemy out there. That is, theres always a person or group thats stronger and I will need reserve resources to build troops back up no matter how much they may pillage.

Basically, I like to be prepared for anything.
Its not like 2 more cottages will matter, this game is never ending that I know of, so while its good to get gold fast, 2 more cottages worth arent so big a deal compared to being prepared for anything.
Well, first some of us, have cities that takes almost 40 minutes jsut to send resources back and forth in that case(like mine) just build a market. Once again, I am far away from my capital, so I decide to put an embassy in it just in case because sending troops would take wayyy to long. I agree with you on the warehouses, always nice to have some stored! Basically how you build your second city is based on the distance your resources.
One day, we ALL will be a city on our knees

    Default Warehouse

Warehouses are often necessary if you are a player in the intermediate level, like have maybe 100k in troops and are surviving. Most attackers are way over that with like 300k in troops and if you are aggressive during wars you will attack and do so with the knowledge you can be beat. I have taken out members of alliance within my range and then the whole alliance will come down on you. Most know and might be from reading the post that the warehouse is unnecessary because of privateering well who researches that. No one uses a warehouse. The warehouse has eliminated the need to transport resources for city to city when you are away and come back to see your city burning and on the last leg it has. So one will give you enough to raise the loyalty in your city long enough to receive reinforcements and save the city should none be available. I know for the more advanced players this is worthless. But for the intermediate player necessary especially when the game is an interest and not a whole blood thirsty addiction for destroying anything with a red flag. I like to send my troops to attack and will challenge better players. So therefore I get beat and the warehouse saved me many times when my alliance was beat and not responding. While under constant attacks since not every player will have privateering and who needs it no one has one right, you will have resources whether under attack by one or ten players. I saved my city for 12 hours with one at high level alone. Also if you build a city for resources alone. It would be a prime target for attackers. You would save millions of resources even with privateering. Which is better than none.

Figured I'd make my own thread to let people know what I think, and to get people's ideas as well. We all eventually take over second and third and fourth cities, and we want to know the ideal way to build buildings on them. We don't want to waste spots on things we will never use. So here are my questions and opinions:

Inn and Feasting Hall: You will want one if these in every city in order to acquire and appoint heroes for each city.

Beacon Tower: Every city, you'll want to know if you have enemies coming.

Rally Point: Should be the first thing you build so you can send troops to and from the city.

Cottages: You will obviously want several of these in every city to allow for population growth.

Barracks: Again, you will need several of these if you intend on building an army.

Embassy: I believe you need an embassy to hold alliance troops, so if you are planning on being in need of aid from your alliance, build one of these in your city.

Workshop: This is necessary for a wall, so you need it in every city.

Academy: Every city shares research, but you need an academy of appropriate level to use the research in each city, so build one of these everywhere.

Warehouse: I'd suggest it in every city, you need to protect your resources.

Marketplace: I've been told to keep one in every city, not sure why though. Probably so trades become easier? Can anyone expand on this one?

Stable: I have no idea why this should be in every city, hoping someone can clear it up.

Relief Station: I heard you need a relief station in every city to gain the benefits, can someone explain this more clearly? Do you just need a level 1 relief station to experience lvl 4 benefits from another city? Or are they all separate and need to be leveled separately?

Forge: I have no idea why you'd want more than one other than being able to research specific things in that city. If you already maxed researches then I don't see a point, can anyone give a good reason why we should have one in each city?

I think I covered it all, hope this guide sort of helps and I hope others can answer what I could not.
Wow this guide is not helpful I barely even read it. You need to build that stuff in second cities like cottages to make population and rally spot to make soldiers. Next time think about it those are buildings you need to build. Also, this thread has a lot of pages.

Stables are needed to research horseback riding which is needed to build horsemen. They also improve cavalry speed.

My belief is that a stable increases speed of cavalry being trained.Think it says so in one of the drag over descriptions.

Whse can be utilized as defensive survival, making it monotonous (cool word) enough that offenders will tire after spending valuable time and resource as well as "Attention" trying to keep your loyalty down and ) pop.
If you can survive thru these types of attacks you will at least limp long enough to see 9 lvl. 10's comin your way(s).
