It's not cheating it's just smart but apparently you're not.

And there's a better way to store resources, much more resources than any amount of warehouses could store. But I'm a prick and only share this with allies.

Most of the 'information' in this thread is bunk.

    Especially the barracks/cottages info.

Maximum cottages you need per city is 10. The available population is more than enough to keep your barracks busy 24/7.

Absolute MINIMUM barracks per city is 10. How can you compete against someone who can produce 20k archers in less than a day with your 2-10 barracks split between 1-5 cities?

You don't need to worry about your resource production when you're farming L5 NPCs 3 times a day, pulling in 7-12 million gold and over 40 million food.

EDIT: Kyleggara has an ideal city for maximum troop production. I have 5 that look like that, albeit 3 are slightly less developed.

Personally malaika, that sounds like you are setting yourself up for failure. Multiple warehouses would be better to be replaced by multiple cottages/barracks. Do you plan on being plundered? Once you have been plundered, you are (most likely) defenseless and able to be destroyed at the whims of the conqueror. No matter how many resources your warehouse saved, assuming they dont have privateering, you wont be able to build enough AT's/troops in the 12 hours that you will probably truce.

In short, build warehouses if you intend on being the plundered, not the plunderer.

It is a good idea to dedicate your cities for certain otech research. For example, The first city should focus on the military science tech, and no other city should research it - this way you have only one city that has a high level forge. Then your second city should focus on metal casting, and have a high level workshop. Then your third city should have a high level stable, and focus oon training cavalry troops. of course, this does not mean to exclude other techs from research, just to prioritize your research que so you do end up with three lev 8 forges/workshops/stables. Good Luck!!

Default This is how I roll

This is how I do it:

Note: All of my 9 cities are clustered together

1 Main city (one could make two main cities for backup purposes)
    3-4 Secondary cities
The rest are Tertiary cities (resource/army generating only)

    Rally Point - All cities
Marketplace - Main and Secondary cities, not Tertiary cities
Embassy - Main and Secondary cities, not Tertiary cities
    Feasting Hall - All cities
    Inn - Main city only
    Beacon Tower - All cities
    Relief Station - All cities
    Forge - Main city only
    Workshop - Main city only
Warehouse - I do have these, but I plan on removing all of them. If someone hits me hard, I lose the city regardless of warehouses. I regen resources easily with 9 cities to recoup.

Cottages & Barracks - The remaining spaces are used by these two. I think 10 Cottages should be fine, and the rest should be Barracks.

    Option:
    - You can remove relief station if you feel your cities can handle themselves, and if they are right next to each other

I disagree with this and agree with earlier post. warehouse takes up space and at some point leveled tech makes a warehouse obsolete. ( privateering ). Build enough troops and enough defenses and get good allies, and you wont need a warehouse in the long run.
    - my two cents anyways.
To the death, or at least until we are hungry!.

Try upgrading to lvl 1, then try to destroy again?
