Thread: Stop the Thuggery

    Default Stop the Thuggery

The thugs think they can continue to plunder the weak with no consequence.

    Well, time to fight back.

It's called "Scorched Earth" and here is a version that doesn't cost you all your resources.

When you see a thug coming your way, merely SELL all your resources at a ridiculously high price. Making up numbes, but sell everything at a price of 9.999

Use your gold to BUY resources at a ridiculously low price. Making up a number, but buy things at a price of 0.001

These transactions will stay in queue forever. Well, at least for a couple of days, anyway.

The thugs can hit your cities all they want but they will get nothing for their efforts. When it sinks through their greedy little pigheads, perhaps they will go back to posturing against th real challenges whom they are so afraid of attacking.

Critical to this is, of course, maimizing your marketplace levels.

Fight the thugs. Deny them the resourse they so dearly want to steal!

Lol thuggery. Spend your resources or have them get plundered.

I believe when a plunder occurs, the target city's marketplace transactions get cancelled.
    Server 6, Matricks

Standard Battle Reports thread: I scouted and put these amounts into Exercise and got 0 losses. Then I attacked and all my forces died! Wtf!

    I second that

Yep this doesn't work. You're on the right track though.

Don't give your enemies anything. Don't look like an easy target. Join a decent alliance that will give you a bit of cover. Make it pointless to attack you, and you won't get attacked randomly.

Lol, this doesn't work. Any resources that are waiting to be sold in the marketplace are still fair game for plunder.

Scorched earth would be more along the lines of destroying your resources, but at any rate, even if the old market trick doesn't work, you should be able to sell all your resources at current market value and then spend all your gold on more resources at current market value. You will wind up with a loss (unless the prices for buy and sell are almost the same) but in the 30 minutes it takes to get there, you won't lose anything to plunder. You can also set a large barracks or wall defense project before getting hit, they can't take resources that are already spent.

I must say, although this would seem to be a good idea, it sorta leaves you with nothing once the attacks stop.

Sure, the enemy has stopped attacking you. Now you've got wait a few hours before you can even do anything.

The only thing that really works is to turn your production to zero, log in once a day to get your amulet, appease your serfs, and hope that whoever's thugging you gets bored looking at your 'inactive' city, and ,better yet, in a few weeks time gets bored with the game and leaves it to thug on a noob server. Then you can crank it all up again and collect all your amulet spins...
Not a fun way to play, really, but if you're out of teleports and you don't belong to a decent alliance, you do that.
Or you could steal/npc all his valleys and attempt to join his alliance, if you have a decent appreciation of the concept behind irony

Sometimes the resources that are plundered are secondary to an attackers motives.

If I know someone is online, has defences and a large amount of loot, I will still usually attack.

Let them scorch the earth. Then they can start by rebuilding all of their defences.

It's not always about the money.

Too bad for you, because this exploit was fixed weeks ago.
