Thread: What, and what not to build throughout your cities.

Default What, and what not to build throughout your cities.

I've haven't seen a good guide covering the topic of what buildings you actually need in each city. Their purpose and function, and when you are able to delete them in order to build more barracks. So I figured I will give it a shot. If I have some information wrong (by wrong I mean factual and not your opinion) don't hesitate to let me know.

Barracks/Cottages - You obviously need several of these in each city. Numbers may vary and I will not get into that in this guide.

Warehouses - Though some may disagree I recommend not having ANY Warehouses. If you're getting plundered then there's other things you should be doing besides trying to hide your resources. Like using them to build troops and wall defenses. If you always build stuff and use up/sell all your resources then there will be no reason for someone to come attack you for them.

Marketplace Though it is not required for any type of tech or buildings, I highly recommended you have one of these in every city. It is however, possible to do without one.

Beacon Tower/Rally Point/Academy - You should have one of each of these in every city.

Embassy - You will need one in your main in order to join an alliance. Other than that these are not required in any city for anything, and really seems to be more up to personal preference whether you want one in your city or not. I personally use one in each city for if you are ever attacked, having the option for allied members to come to your aide could be invaluable.

Inn/Feasting Hall - The Inn is required to build every level of your Feasting Hall. You will need a Feasting Hall in every city. You will eventually want that Hall at level 9 (or level 10 if you're gonna burn a script). Once you get a level 9 feasting hall you no longer need your Inn. Max out your level 9 Hall with heroes by hiring them or sending them from another city and demolish your Inn.

Forge - A Forge serves two purposes. It allows you to build and level your Workshop, and it allows you to research Military Science. Once you build a level 2 Forge and then build a workshop this building can be demolished in every secondary city. For your main city however, you need to be sure you have your Military Science maxed out (9, or 10 if using a script) and you also have your Workshop level maxed out (9, or 10 if using a script). Once both of these conditions are met, you can even demolish the forge in your main city as well.

Workshop - A Workshop serves two purposes. It allows you to build and level your Walls, and it allows you to research Metal Casting. You will need one of these in every city until you reach the highest level of Wall you desire. After you max out your walls this can be demolished in every secondary city. For your main city make sure you have reached the desired level of Metal Casting AND Wall, and you will also be able to demolish this building as well.

Stable - Stable also serves two purposes. It allows you to build and level a Relief Station and allows the research of Horseback Riding. You will need one of these in any city you plan on building a Relief Station in. You will have to keep it until you reach the desired level of Relief Station and then you can demolish the building in any secondary city. In your main city make sure your Horseback Riding and Relief Station are as high as you want them before demolishing.

Relief Station - You do not need one of these in any city but if your cities are even a little spread out they really help and I recommend you have one in each.

Hope this helps some people, Enjoy.

There is only one way to defeat the enemy, and that is to write as well as one can. The best argument is an undeniably good book.

I've had my guides get wiped too. But that's not what ticks me off the most...

I pm'd the other mods, requesting that they restore the thread.. and it's the deafening silence.. and total indifference from them which boils my blood.

Btw, 8-10 cottages is the norm for most players. 9 seems to be the favorite and my personal preference.

Other then that the guide looks fine.

So it's not a guide then is it?
If you're going to 'guide' people, then you need to give reasons.

Don't be a hater just cause that's the only thing you can find in my guide to hate on. This isn't a guide about how to develop your cities just about what you can and can't demolish. There are several different strategies to develop your cottages, barracks, and resource plots anyway.
