@deedle-Line by line post analysis FTL. So ego driven you missed the point that only the first line was for you.

I have to say I think you two are arguing just for the sake of arguing. This post was obviously put up to help BEGINING PLAYERS without a clue of how the system works stand a chance... By the time you have a level 9 Warehouse and level 9 Stockpile tech, you are no longer a beginner. At that point you either better have a clue or quit playing.

The market thing works now, but its a mechanic that doesn't make a lot of sense (read as borked and exploitable), and I wouldn't be surprised to find in the near future that markets become lootable. After all, it takes time to deliver the stuff. One would assume its just sitting around in your town until someone "orders" it. Other similar games I've played HAVE lootable marketplaces.

The expense and time involved in getting a market up to level 4 (so you can stash some of every resource) FAR outstrips the cost of the warehouse proposition.... as an example:

Level 2 to Level 3 upgrade of Market:
    4000 food
    4000 wood
    4000 stone
    4000 iron
17 minutes 47 seconds (with my construction tech bonus)

Level 2 to Level 3 upgrade of Warehouse:
400 food (thats right, 1/10th the food)
6000 wood (OH NOES, my theory is broked)
    4000 stone
1200 iron (wait... 1200... thats like... 1/3 of the... and iron costs more to make pound for pound.)
14 minutes 44 seconds (same construction tech bonus)

At level 1,2,3 construction for the Market, you can't stash a balance of things to continue building with and it takes half an hour to recieve orders... so in effect you gain NOTHING until level 4. By the time you make enough of your "missing element" to actually build troops or buildings, the next wave is on its way.

In short, if you are getting raided early and you don't ALREADY have the market or the warehouse or both... the warehouse is the more effective solution.

Thank you for doing the work Cynthetic

Your skill far surpasses mine. I lay down my sword.

Yes, Cynthetic, I agree we're off topic, and despite being an "ego-driven" chick who believes posts that begin "to Deedle and the others who believe XYZ" are directed at Deedle (and others), I have yet to see how even the first-line applied to me. Anyway, thank you for chiming in that we're "arguing just to argue." Nothing hypocritical in that observation, nope.

As to the market/warehouse stuff, I agree the market is a bit of a hack, but to say that the time and expense "FAR outstrips" the cost of the warehouse approach (caps yours) is a little silly. (17 minutes FAR outstrips 13. This red light is taking SOOOOO long to change.) I think the point is, you can't be raided until your beginner week is over anyway. Surely you can get a level 5 market within that time and a warehouse.

If you don't see how any of it was addressed to you, why did you respond line by line?

What I'm not understanding about this argument...

Its been said that the Warehouses hold less than a million resources at full capacity. However, if you have over a million resources and you're getting your butt handed to you... shouldn't you be using those resources on defenses and whatnot? It sounds to me as though a single large capacity warehouse should suffice to make certain you have something waiting for you when you get home. Meanwhile, all of your resources ought to be going into archery towers and a standing army until you are no longer the local grocery store. I dunno... it just seems that the "hidden market" solution only seems to work if you're not actually having a problem.

Ugh. This conversation is truly driving me batty. Here's the synopsis in one-liners:

Luthorr: Hey new players, build warehouses, lots of them!

hairyleggs: Or get a level 5 market.

    Luthorr: What do you mean?

x3d33x: You can hide crap in your market.

Luthorr: That doesn't work when you're offline.

Wildfire2099: The market works nicely for everything but gold

Luthorr: But Wildfire, it doesn't work when you're offline.

Wildfire: Yeah well, warehouses have their own drawbacks, they don't hold much.

Luthorr: Start your own thread, don't post in mine.

Deedle: Don't tell him not to post here. His post was on point.

Luthorr: "To Deedle and others" your reliance on the market approach shows you can't defend yourself and shouldn't be posting.

Deedle: When did I say I'm for the market approach?

Cynthetic: Deedle, it's not about you. Also, I like the warehouse approach.

Luthorr: Yay! Someone took my side.

Deedle: I thought it was "about me" because it was addressed to me, I objected because none of the content applied.

Cynthetic: If you don't see how any of it was addressed to you, why did you respond line by line?
I feel like I'm arguing with humpty dumpty. Clearly I read it as "addressed" to me. It began "To Deedle" for chrissake. What I objected to was that the accusations contained in it did not APPLY to me. That is, I had not taken a position one way or the other about market versus warehouse.

Anyway, I give up. I'm done. If you feel the need to get the final word in, I won't fight it. I invite Luthorr to call me cowardly again (weird) and Cynthetic to call me egotistical again, and we can go on about our business.

(Also, what does FTL mean? I googled it and got "faster than light." Wuh?)

simple answer is... by the end of your seven days... your producing more resources per hour than a high warehouse can hold...

it would seem that during the 7 days protection, warehouses are pointless for the simple reason you cant get attacked by anyone anyways and so they are a wast of resources.

after the 7 days, you produce say, 60k per hour of each resource, well within a couple of hours, your warehouses will be full, leaving everything else fully loot-able.

the downside to the market strategy, is that you need the gold in place to be able to afford the fees... you try hiding 2 million of each resource on the market, its not cheap.

all in all, neither strategy is perfect... although having played for 26 days, i would personally say that warehouses are a complete and utter waste of time, resources to build and space in your city.

Is it SO hard to agree that some people prefer warehouses and some people prefer marketplace? Yeesh.
