that quote contradicts itself in a way. If you pan out your life, and then live life day at a time you will never accomplish those dreams. Dreams can only be reached by planning. If you plan to save up to buy a mansion and buy a 5000 dollar waverunner you will not accomplish your dream.

I think the quote is trying to say dream big and dream bold and always try to reach your dream. Live your life to the fullest because today could be the end.

While it does contradict itself to a point I think it makes a lot of sense. You have to look at things in the context of the big picture so you don't get bogged down with the small annoyances of everyday life. But on the other hand if you live every day for tomorrow you may wake up one day and realize you've spent your whole life trying to attain a goal sacrificing your happiness along the way. So I think it means that while you have to have somthing to strive for in order to have meaning in your life you must also be able to enjoy the small joys that come along every day.

i think you need to take into account that James was a "rock star" and the crux of all rock and roll songs is/was "live with out fear" so i allways thought it was a remider to be prudent in your wild livings so that if you get to be old your not broke when you get there.

i'm not agreeing with him. i'm jsut saying thats what it always sounded like to me. i get enought "riotous" living from my night terrors i dont need any in the waking world.
