I dont think you are sending enough scouts...try 4k
DO NOT send scouts. When you are lacking firepower, the warriors will reach your archers and kill them off. Sending scouts (who only camp at 5.2K range, taking out traps) will decrease your firepower even further.
Sending scouts is only an option when you are already achieving 10 rounds and don't need layering. Scouts just save a very small number of archers. It's not worth it resource-wise, nor training-time wise.

In Age2 once you own an NPC 12 losses go down significantly.
I farm NPC 10 with the following :
2k warriors ( warriors are not there to block, they are free as I draft them and I figured a few of them take trap damage the archers would otherwise take..
2k scouts
1800 transports
119200 archers
Losses after healing are on average ( average for my last 11 attacks) :
1760 warriors ( all die but 240 get healed)
1650 scouts ( a few survive and 200 or so get healed)
3480 archers...
The fight last 11 rounds which explains the lower archers losses, the less rounds, the less damage you take from traps...( attacking from a regular city with 100k troops limit you need 360 attack or so to get the fight down to 12 rounds, I'm guessing a 500 or so attack hero should get the fight down to 11 rounds too in that case, removing the need for the higher rally pt from the NPC12)
I didn't do the maths but it might be possible to get the fight down to 10 rounds by attacking with a much higher attack hero...( or by sending more archers attacking from an NPC 14 or 16).
I did try to send naked archers with transports but losses were slightly higher due to higher trap damage on archers...
This is with war horn, no penicilin, no corselet
370 attack hero, 126 int.
I just redistributed the hero to 340 attack 156 int so should be able to tell tomorrow how much lower it get my losses....
I will do an attack with my 540 attack hero too to see if the number of rounds changes..

93k archers, 1k pike, 1 k scouts, 1 k sword, 2200 warriors, and 1800 carts
If needs be you can sub 100 warriors for 100 more carts but its not worth the extra archer loss.
okays simples i need a low losses hit on age 1 with a hero of 156attack and maxed out techs any good and simple age 1 hits server 137 (yes i got cleareda few weeks back )
umm, wow, im sorry if someone was able to set people strait before in this thread, but there is almost 60 pages, sorry for not reading them all...
this is my best way to farm lv10 NPCs,
1500 workers/ 1500 warriors/ 3000 scouts/ 92000 archers/ 2000 transporters
with this, you can get 4k-5k losses (archer losses) with a decent hero. sending a hero is 130ish is insane to send with this. (unless you do my special hero lving method) a decent hero is at least 200, but even then they are not out of the woods yet.
the way i see it, it is entirely possible to get normal 4k losses with a 130 hero, but unlikely. i see 2 types of losses.... small, and BIG. with small heros, if they get a big loss, it will be like 60k. but they might have a small loss of 4k. as they level up, their big losses become less drastic (150 might get 35k, 180 might get 20k, etc.) until the point they are unnoticeable from normal losses.
if you want to start leveling up a hero is 130ish, 150ish even, i would never send them using my normal method, they get a mix of their own. the hero-leveling-mix i use is this
4k workers/4k warriors/ 2k scout/ 90k archers .....
................("delo, wheres the trans?") there is none. i feel that instead risking 80k archers (ive seen it) and get the goods, you DONT risk the loss, and just go without all the res. with this method, you wont lose over 9k archers on very low heros. (can start at 130, you might get a few biggies, but nothing like the 50k they might lose otherwise)
