ajax drew at home to Sparta Rotterdam 0-0 (YES!!!!, lol). PSV won 3-1 at home to NAC Breda.

Burnley struck again in the Premiership by winning at home to Everton now. Chelsea keeps on track with another win, this time against Fulham.

In Belgium, Anderlecht is maintaining a 100% record after 4 weeks.

In France, Lyon, Paris St. Germain and Marseille are top after a few weeks.

    In Scotland, Rangers won today.

In Italy, AC Milan won the first match of their new campaign on Saturday.

In Turkey, Besiktas drew for a second time this season and is already losing ground on the leaders, with 5 points of 3 matches.

Ok, I didn't know that... We don't get that much covering of Turkish football over here.

Congrats on that... But not started well this season.

Quite a surprising result in the Premiership last night, where Liverpool lost 1-3 at home to Aston Villa. First home defeat for Liverpool in 31 matches.

A quite uneventful evening in the League Cup, the biggest upset was in Stoke-on-Trent, where Port Vale beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0. In Swansea there were 3 red cards for Swansea, added to a player injured after 3 substitutions, meaning the home team ended with 7 players.

On the (very) negative side, West Ham and Millwall totally ran out of hand, on and off the pitch, with a 44yo man stabbed, but in a stable condition.

In the last Prelim Round of CL nothing exciting after last weeks results.

    Dylan,

Both not really my thing, I love cricket, but don't know enough of it. Rugby is ok, but I know even less of it. Football is my game. Always was, always will be. But no-one is stopping you to make threads about them...

For last night's CL, Arsenal comfortably went through, but not after a blatant dive from Eduardo that tricked the, apparently experienced, referee from Spain. Second half produced at least better goals. The biggest upset, if you can speak of that, came from Cyprus where APOEL Nicosia beat FC Kopenhagen to advance through to the group stages.

The draw for the group stages is made tonight at 5pm UK time... 8 groups will be formed, with a team from each pot (1-4)... The first pot contains the strongest teams in CL, to the last one with the 'weakest' teams.

Pot 1: Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, AC Milan, Sevilla & Bayern München.

Pot 2: Olympique Lyon, Internazionale (Milan), Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, FC Porto, AZ (Alkmaar, Dutch champions), Juventus, Glasgow Rangers.

Pot 3: Olympiakos (Greece), Olympique de Marseille, Dynamo Kyiv (Ukraine), VFB Stuttgart, Fiorentina, Atletico de Madrid, Girondins de Bordeaux, Besiktas (Turkey).

Pot 4: VFL Wolfsburg (Germany, Champions), Standard de Liège (Belgium, Champions), Maccabi Haifa (Israel), FC Zürich, Rubin Kazan (Russia, Champions), Unirea Urzicena (Romania), APOEL Nicosia & Debreceni VSC (Hungary).

Last night's Europa League prelim. rounds haven't brought any real upsets, apart from the exit of Aston Villa on the hands of Rapid Wien of Austria.

Zenit St. Petersburg, Winners in 2008, also went out.

The draw is today at 12.45 CET, using the same principle as the CL draw, but now 12 teams per pot.

Pot 1: Shaktar Donetsk (holders), Werder Bremen, Villareal, AS Roma, PSV, Sporting Club, Hamburger SV, SL Benfica, Valencia, Panathinaikos, ajax, Steaua Bucharest.

Pot 2: Fenerbahce, FC Basel, OSC Lille, Celtic, Everton, Club Brugge (Belgium), Heerenveen (Netherlands), Galatasaray, Anderlecht, Austria Wien, Kopenhagen, Lazio Roma.

Pot 3: Hertha BSC Berlin, Sparta Praha, Dinamo Bucharest, AEK Athens, Slavia Praha, Levksi Sofia, Athletic Bilbao, Partizan Beograd, Hapoel Tel-Aviv, FC Twente (Netherlands), Dinamo Zagreb, Fulham.

Pot 4: CSKA Sofia, Toulouse FC, CFR Cluj (Romania), Genoa, Rapid Wien, Timisoara (Romania), BATE Borisov (Belarus), CD Nacional (Portugal), Salzburg (Austria), Sturm Graz (Austria), Ventspils (Latvia), FC Sheriff (Moldova).
