Default What makes people think an NPC city is theirs?

I have been trying to smooth out an issue between my Alliance and an ally. Apparantly we joined the server late and one of my guys ended up in a spot where one of our allies had set up their farms. As you can imagine this guy tried to claim all of the flats in the area so my guy cannot create his own farms.

My guy being the profiteering ******* that he is, rolled with it. He built his ballistas and started farming the preexisting npcs. So a week later our host recieves a message from their host. ZOMG you guys are hitting OUR npcs.

Alright before we go anywhere. What color is on the npc flag? It is most definately not the pastel blue that friendlies are. it is black. the troops garrisoning it are npcs. That means the city belongs to the server, the resources belong to the person that harvests it.

In real life once we hit adulthood we realise that you cannot lick something and expect it to be yours like in childhood. Dude spread like creep across the land expecting his neighbors not to hit these npcs he placed all around them, preventing their own growth. Whatever.

You possess something in this game through force of arms and mutual agreement, not because you put them there. So I decided to negotiate with them. I looked at the cities in question and told the guy claiming the cities that I suggest we draw a line halfway between the two players in question and that any city he loses I will replace around the origional claimants other city 2 for 1. For whatever reason this dude refuses. I told him, "Fine, then things stay how they are now. contact me when you see reason." I told my guy to farm the crap out of dude's npcs.

From what I can tell his alliance doesnt want to break our agreement over him. They got war decced by the most powerful alliance on our server and we backed them up. It just amazes me that people think the npc's belong to them. what are your feelings on this matter?

If the other guy is bigger than you, they're his NPCs

better build ur own npc's around for ur self and hit only them like i do and always try to be in a good alliance means ranked high and if anyone else try to hit ur's npc's ask him to join u ppl or die even if he is far good than u, tell ur clan to hit him if he still hit's ur npc's

Since his alliance is obviously not strong enough to dominate yours; the npcs are common ground. Farm the hell out of those npcs since there is no risk of repercussion.

If you have to ask this question it shows a deficiency of logic. The NPCs belong to whoever can control them; whoever stakes his claim upon them is the owner. If I have a million archers, and you're pushing 200k, does the question even need to be asked? Arguments such as "I built them" or "they're in my immediate area" are worth far less than the practicality of force.

no deficiency of logic here, I deigned to negotiate on his level. when he got beligerrant I called off the negotiations and told my dude to farm the hell out of his stuff. eventually dude is going to have to realise that I was being nice in offering some kind of agreement and he will come back on my terms. of course, my terms will be far harsher then. I will tell him that my guys will not attack the ones that are too far out of the way to be worthwhile and he had better like it.

Sobekeus- your sig, I would suggest it is wrong. Success without the chance of failure is the highest goal of strategy. Success without the chance of failure is often not as fun though.

Uh...farming NPCs is the ONLY WAY (it seems) to win the seige war against bigger players.

You have to starve the larger armies of this game in order to win.

What I find funny is that many people use anecdotal evidence to 'prove' who is farming 'their' npcs. I've had an enemy farm the npcs around an ally's host cities from over 80 miles away just to get them to turn on us.
~Success without the possibility of failure is meaningless.~

That is a clever and intelligent strategy.

All you need to do is post this sign on each NPC village that you create
