I will vote for the Islamic nations or "Darul Islam" which was obviously the most advanced region and absolutely dominated both militarily and scientifically throughout the Middle Ages. Both the Byzantine Empire and Spain were Islamic in the Middle Ages....this Poll is inaccurate.

Seriously, has no one taken world civ, the Byzantine Empire was never Islamic, and did not fall untill the high middle ages, and though part of the Iberia was captured, but the north never was.

I have to agree with the above post. Any basic perusal of world history will show that Byzantium was Greek, and Orthodox.

My favorite Middle Ages empire was the Aksumite Empire of Ethiopia. Also know as the Kingdom of Axum, this empire was an important trading link between Europe and the far east. Purported to be the home of the Queen of Sheba, and the first major empire to convert to Christianity; Axum will always have an important place in history.

Today the people of Ethiopia are proud of their glorious heritage.

By the way, is the pre-WWII Polish flag based on the Winged Hussars or were the hussars based on the polish flag?
Which flag are you talking about?

i voted for the HRE. and i voted early on so i know that it said HRE not Rome. The HRE WAS in the middle ages though it was more of a union than a kingdom. It did technically have a centralized leader, the Holy Roman Emperor. The first was Otto I in 962 AD.Since the middle ages are commonly dated from circa 400-476 A.D. (the fall of rome) to circa 1453–1517 A.D. (the Fall of Constantinople to the Protestant Reformation begun with Martin Luther's Ninety-Five Theses), the HRE was a middle age "kingdom".

I'd have to go with Feudal Japan too. But I know more about England.
