Sure it was good moral constitution right up untill the sutan, who as we may recall had to be a direct decendent of the profit to be sultan, in an effort to prove the domanance of Islam in Jerusalem, how sall I say this, forceablly compelled one nun each day to lay with him on the alter of the hagia sophia
And Naydang, you said it your self, Castille exsisted, but then so did Arigon, Caltilan and Navarro, and though they were all in what is modren day spain none of them were Spain, much like the colonies of Georga and New York exsisted before 1786 but were not the United States

Well I for one would set up in Greece even though I am American. Then force my alliance to move into Greece and Asia minor, since that is where the Byzantine Empire was.

And besides, if people set up in their actual country it would make for some interesting diplomacy, wouldn't you say?

    Holy Roman Empire ftw!

Only because I've recently played as them on Medieval Total War II, but meh, they're still pretty awesome.

    I vote "Other" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Venice

The Most Serene Republic of Venice (Venetian: (Sereněsima) Repůblica Včneta or Repůblica de Venesia, Italian: Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia) or Venetian Republic was a state originating from the city of Venice in Northeastern Italy. It existed for over a millennium, from the late 7th century AD until the year 1797. It is often referred to as La Serenissima, in reference to its title in Venetian, the Most Serene Republic.

So no the Islamic countries were not the dominant countries at the time.

at the time of genghis khan the mongols had their own religion, but during the medieval time i mentioned, most mongols were actually christians. i myself found this to be surprising but it's the truth. yes they were awed by islamic civilization but not their religion
