Thread: Lord Wellington's Gold Tip!

I had figured this on my own, to go so******t, rob the peasants and give them government cheese. It's a great way to make gold quickly, but with high enough population and a hungry army, the food costs become prohibitive. It works excellently in the early game, but how long does it stay viable?

There's no need to set your tax rate so high. Once you have a decent size army and rally point you can plunder NPC's for gold and sell resources to fund your research. The only reason you need gold is for research and the occasional promotion. Better to have a low tax rate and more idle population to build armies. Why make something you can take? Isn't that the point of this game? LOL

its pretty useful in the beginner's prot period but afterwards its better to farm npcs

I find a good number to be 14 Cottages, 6 Barracks and 1 of everything else (this uses all slots and allows for relatively quick unit training). Set the Tax Rate to 50%.

It confuses me why anyone would set the tax rate so high and use DR comforting (which costs a lot of food) instead of selling food for gold, especially with it's market rate being so high, and with all the extra from raids. Makes no sense.

why do we revive a dead threat?
    anyway:
set tax to 50% until you can start raiding NPC's.
    from a lvl5 u get like 300k gold every 8 hours
that said set yr tax rate low because you will need the population to build armies quick.

    DONT LISTEN TO THAT!

the more barracks you have the faster you can build armies!
try 9 cottages, 1 of everything (except warehouse) and the rest barracks.

This thread was started back when food cost under .1 gold and the only resource above .1 was wood.

Makes no sense now with the high price of food.

In my main city I am making 10k gold an hour.

    1. You need a lot of food to do this.
    2. Population of 15k or over.
    3. A lot of cottages.

I have 19 cottages in my main village. 4 lvl 5's, and the rest lvl 4's.

Put your tax rate to 100%, and you will see your loyalty is going down, now, best thing i use is my food and a thing called comforting.
Every 15mins, keep using the "Disaster Relief" Comfort. Brings your loyalty up by 5 and there is no Public Greivence

Warning! Do not do this when going to sleep. Or you will wake up with no Loyalty, and no population.

I have currently 18207 Population12692 Idle Population Population Trend Upward.

My loyalty is at 92/0 but my loyalty trend - Downward. (thats where comforting comes in)

    Thanks

    Lord Wellington

??? STUPID is all i have to say

    why do u ask?

simple well when ur bigger and u have large armies were u get the spare food?
u use it to keep ur troops alive (so to say) and seriously i tried ur thing and its very seasy to forget to change it back to 50% or whatever u had it at...

my advice is get about 10 cottages (thats all u need) then get them all to lv 7+ then u should have about 20k populationand if u lower ur tax rate ur population goes up then u earn about 5-10k gold an hour while have a large population and a tax rate of 20 %
Im Back. Love new little emotes

Agreed. Also, noobs don't quite yet realize how gold generated from cottages is **** all compared to gold plundered from farming lvl 1-5 npc's. Advanced players need barracks alot more than they need gold and if you build too many cottages you will just end up tearing them down later on to make more barracks. Until you get to the NPC farming stage, produce and sell lumber for gold needed to do the required research.
