Currently I use broadband. But now that we may be moving, I will be stuck on dial up for a while. So I was wondering, does anybody here use dial? Can you even play Evony on dial or does the lag kill ya.lol

...... dial-up still exist?!?!?! lol No clue man. Good luck though, I think you'll need it. Are modems even still around? lol
A man might not be able to move a mountain, yet he will accomplish nothing if he never tries.
Well, I'm tired of these forums. Very little humor in them anymore. Adios all.
I still use dial up because it's the only type of internet available where I live.
It takes around 30~ minutes to load the game the first time around, but after that, it works just fine for me.
I run at 52 Kbps speed though, so if you have slower dial-up, eh.
It's all Rodri's fault.
u can use satellite internet or 3G network. They are available everywhere. However, if there is a small storm occurs, u will lost connection though
Don't know about 3G network, but satellite internet is $60 a month that I've seen, with unstable connection and awful latency.

Actually when i had the house built that i currently live at now and moved into 9 years ago all there was around here was dialup which i put up with for a few years, then i had gotten satellite from Directway(DirecTV which is now called Hughesnet or w/e its called now) and it was actually pretty good and used that for like 2 years or so?, they had only brought out cable net here about say 2-3 years ago of which ive had ever since it was released here. in any case, it was $500 for the hardware which was 99 a month, then went down to $60 a month after that. not sure what the prices are now but the hardware they have now is way better then what they had back when i had originally gotten it.
Satellite is reliable up until theirs a storm or extremely cloudy n such, but its very much better then dialup connection speed wise. not to mention you wont need to use a phone line with satellite, so that could be a plus in most cases. its just not recommended for online gaming/voice chatting, but can be used for those.
the only real difference you would see on Evony would be it downloading faster then dialup would, other then the download time differences there isnt much else that changes.

I used dial up for 3 weeks or so and it was odd. .png files would load from server on the Index.do page 90% of the time, so not only did it take longer, it showed me the billion plus requests going to the server every day that didn't need to be.
The flash app would work some times for 5 hrs, then is was another 30 minutes to DL the 3.6MB. The actuall playing Evony?
A breeze. It was all the other stuff that grinded my gears.
This wouldn't be so bad. I could let it start downloading and go back to remodeling.![]()
My biggest concern was that I wouldn't be able to play until we got High speed. It seems to lag enough with highspeed. i thought it would be impossible with dial-up. The plan is to go with Hughes net after some of the remodeling was finished. But it could be a month or two before that happens.I can't be away from this game that long. I am so addicted to it. lol
I'm just glad that I have a great alliance. They will look after my account until I am able to return.
Thanks for all the reply's everyone.![]()
