The links eventually just take you to a white page, I think evony delete them after acouple of weeks to make more room and to reduce server lag.

I doubt such an application could be forbidden since things like unit costs are readily available to anyone and anyone could get the information with a little more work with their own calculator.

For an example, Utopia has Utopia Angel, a third party bit that most kingdoms require their members to use. (Mods: if it is against the ToS to mention another online game here please feel free to * the names but I would appreciate if the point of the statement is left in tact.)

HOWEVER, as in all cases, anybody using a third party program needs to be wary that that program cannot necessarily be trusted. Such a calculator should probably make it clear that it is third party and not associated with [whatever company runs Evony] or Evony in any way, and it for sure cannot collect account-related information.

Of course this is all based on past experience, not the official word. I am, after all, not associated with [whatever company runs Evony] or Evony in any way.

if it just passively takes information and doesnt mess with evony, its no worse than their EULA that says they can datamine your system for all information they want.. if it doesn't modify evony, then its fine.

I swear I read a post recently that said 3rd party apps were not to be used, but I can't find that thread now. I'll keep looking.

If they just gave the log file as an HTML page, we could simply copy and paste it.

it's stored as .xml by evony, but presented to the end user embedded in flash. i haven't exactly wiresharked the thing, but i guarantee the xml comes in over the rmtp feed or is rendered to flex data on the backend. if it's rendered on the backend, you'd have no way to get it as xml. if it's rendered on the frontend, you'd have to intercept the rmtp feed, which i guarantee is a violation of the ToS.

yh.. we can have a third party analytics.. like constructing models for battles.. medal drop rates and such other stuff..

the data can be discarded later

i suppose once the data is extracted and stored somewhere else we may not need evony servers anymore.. one can always start with his alliance.. there are many battle reps on the alliance boards.. a sample gud enuff for analysis

but arent we taking this too far

EDIT: analytics cannot be called a third party app.. it generally boils down to probability theory and one may argue.. see finally i am just applying probability theory to the data generated by evony.. its just like adding 300 arcs to 300 more so tht i can march with 600 arcs
