Thread: The Ideal City

  1. #1

    Cool The Ideal City

    Town Usable space = 32
    City Usable space = 40

    All cities should have relief stations

    The Ideal City
    Mandatory buildings = Feasting hall, Inn (Dismantle), Beacon tower, Rally point,
    Forge (dismantle), workshop (dismantle), Embassy, Market, Academy, Stable (dismantle), Relief station, 13 Barracks, 6-7 cottages. {credit to lynnor} for correcting my sillyness.
    1 mayor Highest politics possible, intel is an asset as it increases research speed

    If u hate waiting for the time it takes to research things at the academy get the highest possible intel to speed it up by 30-40%.

    12 lumber mills, 11 quarrys, 12 iron mines, 5 farms (first city)
    Then Reformat into 20 lumber, 20 iron

    40 lumber mills, 10 forest valleys (level 10 ideal) {2nd city}
    40 iron mills, 10 Hills (level 10 ideal) {3rd city}

    (Due to lack you food, YOU WILL HAVE TO FARM NPC'S!! no it's or butts once you have a decent military you're forced to farm npc's for food!!). {even if you had 40 farms and 10 level 10 lakes with level 10 agriculture it still wouldn't be enough to support troop upkeep.}

    Other cities can be what ever you choose.

    As for the reason's i chose to dismantles my forge, workshop and inn is because you need to make more room for cottages/barracks since those 3 buildings don't do anything after maxed research. Although it's a good idea to keep a city with a level 10 inn in case u lose hero's.

    This is why i chose to make one ideal city for everything as the quote below makes sense.

    For defence, i've been told its good to have 10k + archer towers and i've read from a post below that late game 100-300k archer towers is necessary for late game. I have not gotten there yet so for now i wouldn't know. From what i've read about trebuckets, traps, rolling logs, they cost you more resources than it does to wipe them out with cannon fodder -> warriors, so those traps are practically useless. Though the pit traps says it removes unit inventory i dunno if that means it nulls the effects of items used for battle example war horn, and corselett. (post if u know what it means). {will update}

    Extra info for new players

    Hero (Mayor) Info
    Mayor attack = troop training speed
    Mayor Intel = research speed
    Mayor Politics = Resource % bonus / construction time / wall repairs.

    Hero (Battle) Info
    Hero attack = Strength of troops
    Hero Intel = Supposedly increases battle exp "i've noticed that i gained more info using a hero with high intel form personal experience, though i may just be delusional it helped me scout level 8+ valleys with 5+ infomatics".
    Hero Politics = Unknown (maybe for plunder/taking over cities). *if anyone knows what it really does please post*

    P.S Info and updates to this guide will be adjusted to info gathered from more experienced players posts in this forum.
    PP.S This guide has been edited several times to suit my experiences and others; so what you see the first time you read this might be different the next time.

    Should the forge and workshop be maxed out before they are dismanteled??

    Yes.. I also dismanteled my stable and have not noticed any down side. I can still produce cavs

    11 quarries? I'd rather turn them all into sawmills. In fact, if you build only sawmills or only iron mines (or farms if that's what you're into, I just farm NPCs) then it makes it easier to max out production, because you can get 10 forests, 10 hills or 10 lakes.

    Yes, 11 quarries are useless. Stone has no use in the endgame, and any little you need can be bought for fractions of the price of lumber or iron. Build 1 until your walls reach level 10 and then get rid of it.

    I like to have either mostly iron mines or mostly saw mills in my cities rather than splitting between them, but that's just me.

    Stone would only be comparable to iron and wood on a new server that has just started out, when everyone is building walls and beacon towers. After that it's dead in the water.

    ok well 5 farms???? i understand you can farm some and buy soem but still, for me i keep AT LEAST 10 farms emergency cases. but also 100k archers?? WTF kinda defence is that wen just about everyone else has 400k? im on S21 and jsut about everyone who is somone has 200-300k. end game, 100k archer won't do squat? i understand you didn't write this so. your friend doesn't know anything about this game i guess. thnaks you

    A decent guide, however there a few things wrong with it:

    Don't split lumber/iron within the same city - focus on one or the other, INCLUDING valleys.

    You don't NEED 3 mayors per city - You need one politics mayor per city; the intel/attack mayors can be transported throughout your cities, however, because everyone has more attack heros than everyone else, I suppose an attack hero is 'optional'.

    However, you DEFINITELY don't need more than 1 GOOD intel hero (Made that mistake and cbf to fix it)

    All heros can be one-trick ponies (that is, they have only one GOOD stat, the rest don't even have to be mediocre, the only combo that is useful is a high INTEL mediocre attack, so you can raid NPCs/cities to gain experience to level up intel)

    As I said, don't split lumber/iron. I have all lumber OR all iron at level 9 (+ all the corresponding level 10 valleys), except for 1 of each other type of resource (idk, just personal preference, need to demolish some stuff still)

    Make sure you own valleys in each of your cities.... just make sure they're forests/hills (depending on what your city is focusing)

    A politics mayor also helps with decreased construction times on buildings and wall fortifications.

    I'm not sure whether a better intel hero makes scouting better or not.

    Here's some (simplified) math as to why this is correct.

    Pretend that you can produce 1,000 of any combination of resources you want in each of your two cities. Obviously you can produce more than that, but for the purposes of making this simple, let's use a small round number. Let's also say you can get up to 100% bonus from the valleys you own in each city.

    If you produce 500 lumber and 500 iron in each city and split the resource fields down the middle in each, you'll get 1500 lumber and 1500 iron per hour. (500+500(.50))*2=1500.

    But if you produce 1,000 lumber in one city and get all forests for that city, and do the same with iron in the other city you'll end up with 2,000 of each.
    1000+1000(1.00)= 2,000.

    Again, that's simplified, but it demonstrates the advantage of dedicating all of your resource fields to one particular resource.
