With that in mind I suspect you hit on one of the key problems with this "rule". The number one source of players who play for any length of time is going to be word of mouth. Web adds are great but they generate tons of "pay for 20 minutes and quit" players whereas almost all word of mouth generated players will stick around for a lot longer since they know what evony was before they started.

Enforcing this rule would directly and adversely affect their revenue stream.

With that aside I am not really convinced that multiaccounting is all that much of a power gain as Sekai seems to believe. Once you pass a certain point in the game I think that 4 decent players can take out one 4 account player every time. If they plan and coordinate well. *shrug* other than espionage I have found that focused single account players tend to do better long term.
Considering that I could pool ALL THE RESOURSES from my kids accounts, and my roommate and her kids accounts and I am certain that ALL OF IT TOGETHER would add up to less than I have in my own capital city.

In fact, just the effort needed to build and move those goods would be self-defeating. Raiding a bunch of L2 Barb's would be more profitable and infinitely easier to orderly maintain.

That's kind of the point, if one multiaccounter is equivalent to or even close to four decent players in this type of situation, that's a bit off. On my server I am being attacked currently by two multiaccounters with at LEAST 11 accounts between them. They aren't that bright and I have killed upwards of 5 million troops between them while losing about 800k of my own in the process. Despite that, I am out an army and they crank out 2 million archers a day. Neither of these people would have a chance in hell with a single account. In addition to that, the people doing it share account info with their alliance, such that at least one person is available to monitor all of said accounts literally 24/7, and their cities cannot be captured, period. On top of that, there are severe, game-breaking exploits available only to multi-accounters, I will not describe them here for obvious reasons, but suffice it to say the impact this has on the game is incomparably greater than the restrictions on multiple people connecting from the same IP. As far as monitoring kids, no offense, but evony, or just about any MMO for that matter, are not places I would let any children young enough to require monitoring, near to begin with.

Edit - this may be the case with you personally, but any hardcore player who does it can easily produce 5 or 10 times the resources, and more importantly, armies of any single account player. No one's accusing you of abusing the system, but action needs to be taken against those who are.

And once again the whole purpose of this thread is to get a statement from an Evony staff member as to whether or not the existing rule will be enforced, at least with regard to people who have been reported as abusers. What the rules should be are anyone's opinion, what they are is a fact, and whether or not they will be enforced and to what extent is something that we all need to know.

Of course, Evony is in business to make money. If they were not in business to make money then it would be dumb for them to be in business. The point is that they have to determine how to address matters with the staff available. Flooding the forums with negative posts does not improve the situation.

Sure, it helps players feel 'more heard' when they air these matters out. Perhaps Evony could/should assign themselves the task of investigating 'x' number of reports per week... purhaps even post their findings and actions taken depending on severity of a rule violation.

My point is... Beating up on the Evony staff too energitically will only do more to dull their interest as they sit at their work desk and stare sullenly at their In Box.

Yes, I know. Some of you just shrugged your shoulders and you could care less about 'Evonies problems' or how full their desk jockies In Box is. Point of interest, however, is that the same people that you just marginalized is the same people you are wanting attention from. I am not sure about you, but when someone belittles me, it does not put me in a hurry to put them high on my list of priorities.
Ok, I don't think you've been here long enough to fully understand the (past) incompetence of Evony. It is definitely not a legit company/game yet.

Would you let your kids play this game if you saw this ad?

Because that's the ad that was spammed across countless websites for a month. The whole ad campaign was similar and was only taken down after outrage from the community.

Evony is no Runescape. It's very crude and the ways the devs have gone around making game changes and nerfs has been in no way professional thus far.

so your point is your kids, and roommate and her kids, don't know how to play? its still a fact that you gain more resource, even if 'raiding a bunch of L2 barb would be more profitable'.

I totally agree. But....with that said....I have 4 puters in my home and kids to match each one. It wouldnt be fair for me to tell my kids "No you can't play together" on a game. When all I have been teaching them IS to play with each other all their lives.

There is a point to each side on this issue. And no one that I know has told me or them "You cant play together". So, I really think this one is a touchy subject for some. But for others it's an abuse issue. This one would be a tough call.

I think the abusers should be reported and handled if proven abuse. But others... like my kids. I think they have the right to play a game with each other. It's a game!!

I seem to be using this pic alot lately...

Ok, so you're raiding a lvl 2 barb and getting lots of resources.

Now imagine you have two accounts raiding twice the amount of barbs and sending it all to one account.

    Novel idea, eh?

BBQ hit that on the head.

I was making an example of how things were.
*I* do not *HAVE* two or more accounts pillaging Barbs. I only have 1 account. I help the others in my home... the SAME as I help others in the alliance I am part of. The only different is they can walk over and ask for help or leave a note on my desk rather than mailing the request.

As for your example... I have a counter example...
What if i just kept raiding Barb's and sent all my resourses not need for upkeep to an Alliance member I was not related to? Hum? What is we assigned Abe, Bob, and Charles as the alliance heavies and everyone else fed them constantly.
We are not doing this, but the effect would be the same, right? It just would not be as seemless.

    As for myself...?
I hit L5 Barbs with 3 of my 4 cities regularly. My forth city is still trying to prove it is worth the trouble to bother with.

As for the others in my household....
Do they know how to play? Well, yes. Yes they do. They did the quests and can perform basic functions.

Are they any good? That depends on what qualities and measurements your using.
They have fun for a while then ask for help with the annoying parts.
They don't enjoy getting raided and the 'strategy' aspect of the game is secondary to the 'in-house' competition over who has the highest level of which building.
These are the same kids who spent millions altering outfits on NWN rather than bothering to loot the mobs for XP and treasure like everyone else who played persistant NWN games.

As for the crack about their age:
The youngest is about to hit 14. The problem is not that they NEED to be monitiored. The monitoring is the solution to the problem that infests the internet. I do not want children under my roof to be tempted to participate with the BS and idiocy of the much of the 'standard' internet behavior.
So, if the fact that I have standards and expectation within my household troubles you.... I am very sorry for those effected by your standards and expectations.

In my household, we expect much of the rug-rats no matter their age and are rewarded for our consistancy on a regular basis.

Though I have a feeling that if we continue on the 'age issue' we will end up hijacking the thread and while I am not sure... Most forums have rules against highjacking threads.

As for the others in my alliance...?
Some are much better than I. Some are barely consciencous as far as I can tell.

You know... the more I think about this rule... the dumber it seems.
If a single player is abusive in their use of multiple accounts, sure that would be something to deal with. However, other than clear abuses, I see no valid point of limiting players.

I realize the original post was sparked by players acting as bullies with unfair use of multiple accounts... but bully tacits are not something anyone is trying to excuse. Bully tactics is something that needs to be addressed. However the passive use of multi's seems more and more benign the more I think on it.

Those who multi-account and have been reported as doing so should be investigated and banned. Period.

The problem is not that anyone wants to go out of their way to punish people in your situation, the problem is that the company cannot tell the difference between one person multi-accounting and four people playing from the same household without expending far more manpower than they have. As for the merits of the rule, we could argue it all day but would you not agree that the staff need to clarify what actions they are going to take, if any, and against what level of multi account use? If I were in your position, I'd certainly want to know what was going to happen regardless of whether I agreed with it or not.
