Thread: Nine Hours

  1. #1

    Default Nine Hours

Yes, this is another lag-oriented thread; however, consider the point of this thread before you open your yapper about this being "yet another lag thread."

Nine hours ago, I - like many others - couldn't login. About an hour later, I tried agian and got in only to be disconnected. Now, if I do the math correctly, and I am very good at math, nine hours equates to one programmer on staff. After all, two or more programmers would be stepping all over each other.

Point: The on-staff programmer has no idea what they are doing. This is evidenced by the fact of nine hours having passed with the same situation still firmly entrenchded.

Perhaps it is time for the Dev/designer (most likely one person as well) to make a management decision and hire a new programmer. Preferrably one who can troubleshoot - which I believe can be done by using a debugging program. It's not rocket science, it's a game.

Again, at some point, common sense has to kick in.

Perhaps you have no idea what you are talking about. Your math makes no sense. Who says a programmer works 9 hours?!

ALSO a programmer.. programs! Maybe the problem is.. uh.. lets see... THE SERVER/NETWORK? Thus a NETWORK TECH would be the proper person to be hired.

So obviously you don't know who works for the company and what the true problem to the lag is. I think they are completely aware of the problem and are looking into fixing it.

So quit trying to log on for 9 hours and get a life.

    thanks.

I love this sort of thing. Nerds telling nerds to "get a life". Hilarious stuff right there.

well, if the guys live in China, then the time difference would make them be offline during European business hours.

I doubt very much, that they work 24/7 - might that explain the 9 hours ?

you really think a single programmer did this? lol 2 programmers cant work on the same thing?

hmmm me thinks best not to state facts on things your not familiar with.

without even touching that the lag and server issues would not be programmer issues. a programmer would work on the code offline and then bring the server offline for a short while to upload their new code.

unless of course you think that this magical 1 programmer redesigned all the images, interface, fight sim, ect in uhhh a few minutes when it was uploaded lol.

    Another useless lag thread...

Yes, lag is annoying. Yes,there has been a lot of it during the first month of this game. Yes, we the players want things to improve and will complain when it doesn't fast enough.

    *sigh*

Here is my opinion on the subject since this seems to be the purpose of this thread.

The issue here seems to be server lockout (as in cannot login) not lag.
Lag is a SLOW connection (that may cause disconnect if very bad) Most ingame lag appears to be related to player usage; I can actually tell when school lets out (without even looking at the noob chat channel) Some lag seems to be caused by live maintenance, where they access the server without taking it offline. When I have suspected this is happening, the lag usually lasts less than 5 minutes.

As far as the login issues, these have been the most frustrating. I was unable to access server 2 for nearly a whole day once. I have seen numerous posts asking for server status information on the login page, or at least a message rather than an endless clock.
I believe there IS a message now during the scheduled maintenance.

Lack of communication from UMGE's actual paid staff is frustrating to players. It should be easy to create a simple status page to inform us when servers are expected time to be back up, or be honest and say "no clue".

The staff HAVE accomplished a lot in the past 4 weeks, new servers, updated interfaces, bug fixes. They have not SAID much to address player issues, and there is still much improvement needed, but they ARE making improvements.
I believe the situation will continue to improve.

Give me a frigging break. I'm on FiOS and I have insane lag.

TRUST ME ON THIS: the lag is not because I'm a college student and all I have access to is some crappy cable dorm network.

But hey, whatever your imagination comes up with, right?
