    Default Online Nerd Rage

Okay so I made a thread depicting the sadness of playing an online game so long. It turned into talking about games and so it got moved. So I will attempt this again!

Ever play any online games (MMOs, browser games including Evony) where players just took it to a whole outrageous level of seriousness? I'm not talking about someone sending you a mail threatening to kill you and blow up your family cause you took their town in Evony. I'm talking take it up like 10 notches past that.

    Here's mine:

In many MMOs there is raiding. It's basically going through a dungeon and devoting around 3+ hours as a group to clear through the objectives, monsters, bosses, etc. for uber rewards.

    Scenario:

I talked to a guy I've been running with for a while in an online game and he said they did a dungeon in one night, 4 hours to reach the final boss. He said that they took no breaks. When he said he to go to the bathroom they screamed at him. He couldn't even pee without them nerd raging on him.

    Here's another:

The Pandemonium Warden, was a newly added Final Fantasy XI boss that guild Beyond the Limitation plugged away at for 18 hours before finally gave up the fight. They estimate that with 5 or 6 more hours of work they could have finished the job.

"People were passing out and getting physically ill," guild leaders said. "We decided to end it before we risked turning into a horrible new story about how video games ruin people's lives."

heh, craziest thing ive ever seen when raiding was when MC first opened in WoW, and our guild leader was playing his rogue and another rogue in guild out DKP'd him by a good amount, and the whole time the second rogue was saying how much he was hoping for a certain dagger to drop. that certain desirable dagger dropped on our first down of the final boss, and the rogue got dropped from party (and guild) and the leader took it, after a really long night-morning raid. people on vent laughed a little bit, but i quit guild and actually started a new char on a dif server cause of it lolol

didn't you know, they pee in cups by their desks? /end sarcasm

ok, Well I have been in this situation a few times, being someone that generally heads in the direction of a healer class I once took 2 groups in a cave one after the other, the cave took 3 hours each. The guild I was in asked if I could take a few of them in once I had finished the cave run I was doing, being the person I am, I said yes.

Anyway..... the cave run ends and I let the guys know so they can get ready and meet me there, but I told them I had to take care of some RL stuff first (eat, pee, grab a drink and fix a drink for my youngest son who woke up thirsty) all I get was whiney moaning cos I took 10 mins! 10 mins after 6 hours of cave runs..... jeez give me a break.

In my opinion, my health, my family and my RL comes before any game, like it or ****!

Here is taking World of Warcraft, and putting it way above the level of game:

I'm wandering through a small alliance town, smashing guards left and right, leaving players alone. A guy my level comes up, attacks me, and I kill him. Fifteen minutes later, I recieve whispers from a level one character asking me not to kill that alliance guy again, or he would commit *Insert generic internet threat here*. I just laughed, agreed to it, and killed him again.

Two weeks later, I found out it was a guy who's jaw got broken by my friend in real life. Needless to say I was tempted to send him back for another wiring job on that jaw.
