Default Save evony - please read and add to thread

I would like to add one simple thing to help the players and developers. Instead of changing game mechanics (nerfing) to achieve your ends of slowing down player growth and size do a simple thing.

No really it is so simple.

When people sign on to evony give them the server choice and tell them the degree of difficulty in that server based on average prestige and standing army size. Then it is progress at your own peril.

The last idea simple sweeet and saves everyone time and comments all over these threads ??? Extend beginner protection based on the same forumla stated above. If you decide to join server 8 that has an average prestige of 200k and average army size of 120k then you get 13 days in beginner protection. If you join server 56 with an average of 35k and 4k then you get 8 days.

Easy fix you tell us what we are getting into before we jump and you help us when we dont know what we jumped into.

I have watched 95% of the players around me either not start or stop playing since i started three weeks ago. All of us on newer servers know you need to address the problem and this one is easy and wont upset the older players. Post away!

Yes, I have the same experience. The suggestion given above is really simple and will save lot of space on all servers. Players will get in only by their level then.

I disagree that it is a simple fix as you suggest. Any other established game that you might sign up for and play, there are already powerful players. What makes a difference is that people jump into strategy games such as this and think they can be all powerful right from the start. It takes time, and the more powerful players need to adopt standards.

For instance, in another game where I was leader of a powerful alliance, we adopted standards and everyone who joined our alliance joined with the agreement of those standards. Such as, no attacking anyone with less than 30% of your own points. Simple for the alliance members to follow, simple to adapt to. You can't expect the game to change to just please new players, and I no one expects all alliances to adopt standards.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

Well I disagree with you then, you will soon forget all what you said or read when you get a high prestige, honor and army. You (for all, not only you)

It is easy to rate the servers - that further expands upon your strategy theory - the person with less goes to a smaller server - the person with more goes to an easier one. Also someone suggested Barb farming while in beginner protection - i think that would make it perfect. I am telling you this game is dying very quickly they are already merging servers - we all like it we just need others to not get so frustrated they quit.

This but the hard truth is, ethics don't mean much if there is no price to pay for not having them.

Nobody knows how much lies, unethical gameplay or just plain cheating got said alliance to number 1. They only know they are number one.

    "Evony, It's a war game"

I've seen this so many times, like it's some sort of carte blanche, saying Evony has no rules, no standards of game play. The game is doomed, deal with it. It will be a footnote in games in 3 months, another dead soldier. Not because of poor mechanics, not because of stupid adverts, not because the developers and creators weren't ernest.

Because the people playing it, that were allowed to dominate it had no respect for sportsmanship, played it like an addiction and in simple fact, wrecked it.

Untill they are held to account, they won't stop.

Default The simplest way to save evony is to add a fourth act...

    Alliance Play...

Organized attacks on Massive NPC story lines. Big enough that they require players to gather together to solve and conquer.

Where developing your alliance is a requirement. And there is a benefit.

Rather than PvP being the ultimate point, which is actually no fun for a lot of people, you continue to higher goals.

There should be stories past LVL 10. Places that are Interesting to go to.. Lands tough to get to...

Since you control the economy so tightly this can be done.

This keeps the game WAY more interesting past the 1-2 months where people just give up if they are not into PvP play.

This seems like a more practical goal because you really don't need alliance for PvP. It's 99% 1vs1 and alliance is just a chat room you need no speakers for.

The truth is, most of the PvP is driven by boredom beyond recognition. There is nothing to do in Evony but throw rocks at each other.

I've mad chars on alot of servers. Check one 4 or 5 days later, it has hundreds of plunder reports. 600 lumber, 500 lumber. 3000 food. That's not a venture attack. It's mindless bordom.

If someone starts this game tomorrow, signs up and choses his server (I've never heard that a server was allocated) he or she can see that there are 62 servers and 20-odd worlds. Anyone with a bit of common sense knows that server 1 will be an older server than server 62.

The chances are more than likely, that if you are a new player and you start on server 1 that there are a lot of players on that server that are a tad bit bigger than you will be, even after 4 weeks of play.

When I started in the first week of April, the game was the same as it is now. I'm not talking about the nerfs, but about the quests. Follow the quests, find an alliance, go with the game.

Why would someone who starts now on a new server need more BP? It is very well do-able to build up a reasonably sized city with a good defense within a week and NOT having to log in all week.

I am by no means a gamer, I had hardly any gaming experience, nobody helped me in the beginning, but just common sense and a bit of reading is often enough. Is that so hard? It seems to be, as I am often astonished by the questions in the Help-part of the forum. The most stupid questions come along.

In my opinion no extra BP is necessary. 7 Days is plenty, really it is. Find yourself a good sized alliance of players that are near you when you start. The statistics button is there for a reason, you can check out other players. Do they belong to the same alliance. But FFS read!!!
