Alex, I would say, spare your breath, it's not your problem.
True, but I hate problems, mine or not, and I work to get them resolved. I allow people to vent at me so as they are able to speak with those with power with some reason thereby making things run smoother. I know people will always vent their anger, and they need a target for it. Why I'm willing to make myself that target is beyond me, but I think it is so that people won't be banned for speaking their mind, and I allow anger to come at me hopefully with no reprocutions. When people get their anger out, they cease making thousands of threads about the same issues, and during the process of them being mad at me, I can hopefully direct them to the proper course of action to try to achieve the change both sides wish for.

I mean here is something similar to this that I got involved in, and now I don't see issues with it anymore, so I'm happy.

Well, I'm tired of these forums. Very little humor in them anymore. Adios all.

    Good to know,

But do keep this thread open, people need to know what is going on.
Don't hate me because I'm beautiful; hate me because... Well, okay. Hate me because I'm beautiful.

Yet, there is quite a bit of nonsense here. Yes everyone is upset, yes some of you lost what you spent money on, yes everyone lost what they spent time on. However, complaining in a hostile way gets you nowhere.

Everyone needs to take a breath and be rational about this. It had to take a few weeks at least, for them to set this up. It will not be an immediate fix within 5min of shouting hostilities at your screen and going on a tirade about it, I wouldn't even expect it to be fixed within the first 24hrs.

The best thing everyone can do is, explain exactly what they have lost, or what their latest problem dealing with this is. Then, let them fix it. I am sure with each and every one of you, if a boss or a customer had a major problem you wouldn't be able to fix it instantly. Major problems take time, the best you can do is work with them to fix it. By being hostile you are only working against them.

Again, I fully understand the frustration and aggravation. You have a right to be angry, however be sensible about your reactions and help get it fixed.
You'd expect them to get it right the first time if they had spent weeks preparing for it. It's their job for Christ's sake. They're supposed to be professionals

    1. I would have expected them to build a few test servers and merge those together to see what problems might arise.
    2. They told us about this, what, 5 days before it happened
    3. They are forcing this on us and didn't give the players any say in the matter.

In the past, just sitting here quietly and letting them "fix it" has been comparable to us bending over and saying, "Please sir, may I have another." Personally, I've found in the past that the only way anything ever gets done is if you 1. spam the board, 2. swear profusely or 3. any combination of 1 and 2.

Most of the guys in my alliance aren't just going to sit on their hands for weeks while they fix it. Most are going to quit if the problems don't get solved NOW.

I really can't believe the level of incompetence the devs have shown in this game. It's really mind boggling.

P.S. I'm doing my part in "helping get it fixed" by putting as much pressure on the devs to get the issues fixed as I possibly can.

No one said sit there quietly, however acting as you are accomplishes nothing except getting yourself worked up even more.

I used to own an online game, when we switched servers we had problems, unforseen problems. Even though by all indicications, nothing would go wrong. When we implemented new code into the game, again same thing. Our dev had done it a million times and well what do you know, something minor glitched the whole process and screwed everything up. Our dev had to go through lines of code to find the one incompatible batch.

Putting pressure on them does not resolve it, making sure they know exactly what went wrong, and making sure that they know everyone would like this resolved as soon as humanly possible is the way to resolve it. Also expecting compensation for the mishap is reasonable. Acting hostile, being obscene and throwing a tantrum do not speed up the process of fixing it.

I have been in my game server and have had to change code and move things around, my game was new and only had 30k players. It is an immense undertaking. They have thousands of accounts from each server that got merged. I would like to see you fix it in the matter of minutes or even a few hours. NOT POSSIBLE.

Edited: In the game I was owner of, we would have people drop several hundred dollars every 7 days, the most anyone spent in a 10 day period was $1200. Even the biggest spenders understood that not everything is always going to run smooth as silk, and they also understood that someone was working to fix the problem, they even understood that all players effected would be compensated accordingly.

I'd be happy to take a crack at it. I'd put money on me being able to fix it faster than them.

    Here's what I want:

    1. A clear list of the problems their having
    2. What they are doing to fix it
    3. A timetable
    4. What they are going to give as compensation.

Zero ego involved. My experience in computer programing is writing programs in basic on my TI-83 calculator. But I'll just go pick up a copy of Computer Programming for Dummies at my local Borders and I'll have just as much experience as the devs.

we do not care about all this lessons, we just want our server to be back up with our characters, we will even complain more if they fix characters but not return the five worlds back to normal.. because the server is paked already and how are we supose to have fun? make npcs? or even conqure lakes if they are all crowded and already been conqured?? ...

we putting pressure so we can get them to reply back to us, i have plenty of experience on how idiotic staff members of online game can be if they are not in a pressure... yes they made a mistake... good they began to respond to it, thats all we ask & updates to what will be done about it... the more updates and responds we get the more quiet we will be... i mean when evony decided to just merge 5 worlds and a bunch of us complained we got no responses and just continued with their compaign ... where is their justice then??
