well, it depends on how you go about it. Outright fighting and complaining is semi-worthless. It does serve a purpose of showing player's opinions outright, but then you must have the people that serve as a buffer between company and player. These people must be able to react and redirect people's thoughts in a manner that is more constructive while working on a solution themselves. Mods in a sense should take up this position and allow themselves to be hit with insults and such no matter what they do to help us. By absorbing these blows, then fighting for the player's rights behind closed doors in a polite and respectful manner helps achieve a sort of calm state where the forums progress smoothly and the company would be more willing to listen. Now obviously there are flaws to doing it in such a manner, such as putting alot of pressure on the moderator team and unfairly leaving them for the buzzards so to speak. Yet, the mods should know that they are then appreciated for what they do. I just hope the can still see things through the players eyes and don't forget their roots.

Well, I'm tired of these forums. Very little humor in them anymore. Adios all.
That is all based on Evony acutally caring what you think

do you really care about what the company thinks of you? It makes no difference, rather I care about what the players/mods/ and Reps think of me more then the company. Fundamentally, I work on changing a few things because in my opinion, the company stands to benefit as well as the players. That is one of the largest flaws I see anymore here on the forums is the stark contrast between the two sides. There are people working on fixing things through out the forums (normal members/mods/ and Reps) trying to bridge the gaps, and I think that if they suceed, then both sides stand to benefit a great deal because people will be happier then, and the company should be doing well financially then. Only by placing ourselves in each others shoes though can we hope to see what challenges every side faces.

The merger issues will get resolved.
In the interim, this thread serves a purpose. Once again, it is obvious posters and mods need to start talking. The booger flicking doesn't help. The cold and distant "power" of the mods does not help either. The fault for this goes back to the first day these forums opened.
The atmosphere for these forums was very rigid. Any and all dissent had to be put down. I don't know where this attitude came from initially, but I do know the mods who ran the show at the time enforced this creedo very strictly. bannings were a common occurrence - almost by the minute.
Well, some of us got tired of having honest beefs shutdown, closed and infracted. So, we simply took up the cause to clean up the forums by showing the mods what they were doing was not productive. Mind you, this was during a time when the admins were not hanging around. So, the mods felt they were the ultimate powers.... some even went as far as to claim they had more authority than the admins. I was there. I saw it.
Well, one thing led to another, a war broke out and a few of us took a good beating. Evnetually, the mods started talking. They didn't talk about things like "OMFG! Did you see what 'Kempion' posted today?!?" Rather, they started talking about what their limitations were. Some of them even joined our cause... privately. Those few knew other mods were making all of the mods look bad.
The "war" really ended when the mods started talking amongst themselves. Instead of just governing the forums, they started working with the admins to clean up the mod staff. This was a great time. Posters, with few exceptions, could post freely and even post off-topic. The way things are now is a far cry from how bad things were in the beginning.
Well, a few changes were made in the staffing. I was summarily banned for life by a new mod (and that's all they are despite their title) and the forums have once again had a shadow fall upon them.
Today, depsite many previous requests made of me, I came back to help. If I can help, then great. If not, I will be on my way as Evony is not my main gig.
I am first and foremost a player advocate - with or without the title.![]()
I agree completely with Kemp. You guys have no idea what these forums used to be like... I was against it personally, but I didn't spend a whole lot of time outside of OT and S1 Discussion so I wasn't too exposed to it...
And speaking of mods, when are the inactives going to get rooted out? There really aren't many active moderators anymore.
Where is the current listing of all the active mods/admins? If we have a particular issue, we may need this kind of info.
