    Uhhh, no. Those are real names for regions in Europe. Some of the names arn't used anymore but they were at one time.

    Tell that to the people in Friesland (North Netherlands), still one of the 12 provinces (counties) that form the whole of the Netherlands.

    Since I can't find a listing with everything in one place I consolidated it below:

    BAVARIA = southern Germany
    BOHEMIA = western Czech Republic
    BURGUNDY = parts in southeastern France and western Switzerland
    CARINTHIA = southern Austria and northern Slovenia
    FRANCONIA = northern Bavaria (in Germany)
    FRIESLAND = northern Netherlands
    LOMBARDY = northern Italy, bordering Switzerland
    LOWER LORRAINE = parts of France, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium
    MORAVIA = eastern Czech Republic
    NORTH MARCH = northern Germany
    ROMAGNA = north-central Italy
    SAXONY = mid-eastern Germany
    SWABIA = southwest Germany, above Switzerland
    THURINGIA = central Germany
    TUSCANY = west-central Italy
    UPPER LORRAINE = northeast France

    If you click on the state name you will be taken to a Wikipedia page for an actual page on the historic state.

    Where on the wiki-page did you get your info that Lower Lorraine is part of Belgium & The Netherlands as well? Just a technicality, however quite wrong in my opinion.
