Thread: my last suggestion

    Default my last suggestion

this isnt intended to be a boohoo Im quitting post. because I think the game is fantastic.

however I am quitting(I know, no one cares, thats not the point).

this post is for the why, in hopes that some dev might actually look. its not the medals, its not the lag, I could care less about all of that.

I started playing this game 13 days ago. built up 4 cities, had a pretty good thing going. not the fastest builder in the world, I have to sleep and work a 9-5, but whatever.

so I managed 2000 archers, 2000 archer towers, some other stuff.

and now? 30,000 archers come along and wipe out my defense, take all the resources I had accumulated overnight and while at work, cant spend them or auction them if Im not online. eh, it happens, no biggie.

get back to building, and 2 hours later, the 100 towers I managed to rebuild are gone.

and it occurs to me... there is no defense in this game. I have absolutely no recourse against this. I could use a truce item, 12 hours, thatll give me time to build 500 towers uninterupted. wont stop anything after that. I could port out, move 3 cities who knows where so the same thing can happen. ussually youd expect the defense would make a dent, deter an attack, but no, he lost like 13 archers or something. or perhaps I wouldnt lose the ENTIRE defense, but no, soldiers get wounded and can be recovered, defenses are gone forever.

but I have absolutely no way to stop what is currently coming at me from someone with a larger army. cant build fast enough, cant protect.

anyway, I can make a fine farm for him without wasting time upgrading stuff so he can get more resources off me.

not meant to be a whine post, its a legitimate point IMO. bigger army = win. sounds right I suppose. but no point in anyone that doesnt have the biggest army even wasting their time playing. there is no defensive edge to give a beginner any hope of fending off such an attack, if anything the game favors the attacker in that they can bring dead troops back.

anyway, great graphics, but 7 days of noobie protection and then into the ocean, not so good.

yeah, it was. I was getting antsy by day 5, sitting on town hall lvl 4.

but as long as that week was, not long enough to come out with a prayer of competing.

sposed to have what, like 10,000 archer towers in every city in a week? hah, it would take 7 days of non stop building, to build 10,000 archer towers. and in that week, he'd then have 50,000 archers to destroy the 10,000 towers. never ending cycle that the rich will get richer given the current setup.

i understand how you feel, buddy. No stacking of building/upgrading, hours to make a handful of decent troops, over a hundred hours to get the walls to level 10, with some special item, and millions of resources, the medal thing, the cost of the game cents, logging/staying on, ..... I may just buy a copy of Age of Empires and cut out the middle man. I really cant justify any more real money on the game cents.

I sure never bought anything. Id probably feel more attached to the game if I had, like I couldnt walk away from that "investment" lol. or maybe Id be annoyed about leaving. but as it stands, Im neither. less than 2 weeks in, but the balance issue is just too huge to ignore. if the other guy wanted to, he could just take over my city, nothing I could do to stop him, besides use items that cost money.

I once had 2 waves of 35,000 archers, 27,000 warriors, 1500 ballistae, 1200 transporters, 2000 cavalry come at my level 10 maxed city guarded with a respectable stiff defense. The attacker's name was called Future who hosts the Cortosis Alliance. Appearing out of thin air, he had transported his city right beside mine. I then lost the defensive and needed to teleport out of there asap.

It is likely that he buys a ton of game coins and uses advanced tele to pick off his opponents with his massive army. It's a very effective strategy, but it's virtually unbeatable and is a direct pointer to Civony's flawed gameplay. Just remember, that mine's a level 10 th castle with a highly solid defense; but it too, had little to no chance of victory against an army of the caliber you speak of. I certainly understand where you're coming from. I agree with you 100%.

Indeed, this game has its gameplay loopholes. Especially for beginners like yourself. There are just too many malevolent minded players who could care less about anybody else's chances and will do anything to use whatever edge is provided from the current design of the game.

I don't blame them though. They are just being competitive in that aspect of the game. But there are also other ways to be competitive; for Civony is much bigger than just catering to one's aspirations of war. And this brings me to the fact that Civony is still in its infancy as an online game. Given enough time it has the potential to be one of the best online games of its genre. Many issues will be eventually addressed in the future.

Hopefully, some of the more malevolent players right now will come to realize that this game isn't all about killing and encroaching on others' lands. With time comes civility and maturity in gameplay.

I agree. When I was 30k Prestige I almost got wiped out by someone with 149k prestige.

Luckiliy I just HAPPENED to have a city teleporter, and got the hell out of there, but lost my entire standing army, wall fortifications, and resources.

What if I had been attacked by another heavyweight player upon teleporting to my new location?

There needs to be a limit imposed on who can attack who, say for instance you can't attack anyone 20,000 prestige above or below you.

Nice in theory, not in practice.

What if my Alliance declares war on another...but that alliance only has people in the 30-90k range and i'm sitting at 135k prestige? I get to watch my alliance go to war? Or i'm stuck just reinforcing my allies cities?

Not to mention i'm in the habit of detering things BEFORE they become a problem. If someone is near me and growing quickly, why would I wait for them to be on equal standing before I nip it in the bud?

When you go offline dont leave masses of resources in your city or you're asking to be attacked, Spend them on stuff.

In most cases true, but like he said he logs off at night...gets up in the morning and goes to work (9-5). By the time he gets home it's been what, 18hours? Even if he used up all his resources, ALOT could accumulate during that time frame.

Not everyone can play at work, or during breaks or work from home..or don't even work at all (damn kids ).

On that note...maybe this isn't a weekend warrior kind of game....part-timers need not apply.
