Thread: CIVONY's POLL

UMGE stays in business because people decide they want the items that are for sale and purchase them. There are very few purchasable items that are necessary, and those have other ways of obtaining them. Plenty of people play the game for free. Should they have less say than the people who CHOOSE to spend money on the game? Should the moderators act differently towards them?

The moderators are to the best of my knowledge volunteers.

I have to agree, this game has really gone down the hill since I started playing about a week and half ago. Now medals are impossible are impossible to get and this game is charging 5 dollars for 50 cents in game coins. I honestly don't see what the point of this game really is. Does this game want money otherwise they'd make it the dollar to game cent conversion a little bit more reasonable. I'm thinking this game was probably made by a bunch of 16 year olds attempting to see how ****ed they could make a bunch of people by making the medals harder to get; or seeing who actually would pay money to obtain them though the cash shop.

Just fix the fricken medals issue so we can get back to enjoying the game. Its a great game and I believe alot of people like playing. However, a bomb was dropped with this medal update and whoever decided to change it to this current drop rate..... ummm should be FIRED!

Actually, I simply MUST get into this one, and do feel free to flame away.

A commercial website I run is SPONSORED by UMGE, yup, that's right, I get a kickback, money, etc.

So, I DO have the authority, to cancel UMGE's advertisement contract. What I'll put in the e-mail is this. The links to several of the mods responses that UMGE should have already addressed. Now, THAT my friends and associates is where true authority lies, in the pursestrings. So, hey Mods, get a freaking clue, cause I'm getting ****y now, stop screwing around and answering people with short thrift and what I perceive to be intentionally abusive answers.

    I DO have the AUTHORITY.

No, don't feel free to flame away.

And you do appear to have the authority to create some change. Why not use it? What could happen? Maybe we'd see some bugs fixed or at least some feedback as to what is taking so long to fix them.

I do believe I also want to say this. I have sent several messages to "contact us" about some issues. One being 600k in gold vanished during transit and the other being the medal issue. However, both messages NEVER saw a response. I have put money into this game and feel that I have a say so in some aspect of the game. (I have invested money) Customer service really SUCKS these days not only with this server and moderators, but, with everything else. I wish for once we could just simply get it right.

A valid and well said response BBQ, and I will say that "flame-away" was most likely inappropriate, even using the excuse that I don't work here, or volunteer here doesn't cover one in inviting anarchy, lol.

Thanks for the visit btw, I was paying attention.

My opinion, and I will push myself into being more level (perhaps it's time to go make that sauce for dinner tomorrow) is that all players, regardless of money, possible influence, or whatever should be treated equally and all have the "authority" to not finance CIVONY. Don't bite into a flame-war, too many people, and admittedly myself included, are paying close attention to detect any slipup that might be construed as throwing petrol on a bloody hot fire.

It is a hard job, being a forum mod, especially when a game has issues. I really don't believe the majority of posts have ever been (majority again) started as saying, "It's the mods fault so and so doesn't work or is bugged." Complaints have been posted, and entire forum wars started up though, over a mods chosen reply to a player. Really folks, let's be direct on both ends, I don't blame the mods, however, the mods are the "players" assumed pipleline to the UMGE bigwigs. That said, if the mods are not and obviously have no say over the game mechanics or development, then the mods should, imo, worry less over responding directly to a post that is not in violation of the rules and worry more about taknig care of what they can and are empowered to handle.

When a mod replies to a post flaming, or even warmly regarding, a technical issue...they are asking for trouble, especially when the response is worded, intentionally or not, to undermine a players sense of perceived self-worth, belonging to the game, ad nauseam, etc.

Well a tip of the hat to you, sir, as well.

I would say you are correct in stating that no-one has said its a mods fault that the game is bugged. However, we do get blamed for not expediting the process of fixing it.

Less than an hour after I got the PM telling me I was being appointed as a mod, I sent umgeadmin a message asking him if he was looking for regular reports from me about game bugs and issues since I'm one of the Bug Report and Technical Issue Forum mods. My response back was a no. He said that UMGE has people browsing the forum constantly and recording the bugs that people report.

This seemed fairly clear to me that I only needed to make sure that people follow the forum rules. But now, I have people telling me left and right that I should be PMing the admins daily to try and get the problems taken care of. It is the least bit confusing as to who's orders to take. The players that fund the game? Or the company that runs it?

Thank you, though I believe you actually meant, "Is it" when referring to whom to take marching orders from, I could be wrong though.

I'd personally take orders from the guy that writes MY check, on that point, mods as volunteers are screwed. You take the marching orders from the people who run things, UMGE, and "appease" though don't let them know you're doing it, the squeaky wheels in the forums, make a game of it. Personally, I try to type as much as possible in an answer, without actually saying anything. That slows down the poster of the problem post, because they have to read it (hopefully), before they re-reply endangering the apple cart again. They think you're putting SO much effort into the reply, painstaking hard sought for attention is given to the squeaker, and they feel (hopefully) less non-plussed.

Taking the time to reply in a consistent (yes, I did mean that tongue in cheek per your sig) and thoughtful manner is significant. I won't try to take up more of your time, since you have responded to me in public personally, because that's what people want (though god help you sometimes if you give that to them).

I hope, sincerely, that UMGE gets back to you, with an answer (s) that we can all live and play with.

Oh, and maybe asking them if they are taking a consistent look at the built-in bug reporting tool wouldn't be entirely out of order. I mean the one in the Mail function, in game, last tab. I know I've used it.

Hmm... well on an interesting note. I found an exploitable the other day and PMed umgeadmin about it because I didn't want to post it on the forum for everyone to see and abuse.

And I notice just now that it is fixed. I think that was 2 days between the report and noticing a difference. That seems eerily fast considering UMGE's reputation.
