Step one. Come out of noob status and figure out how to build up, while taking what you can from people smaller than you.

Step two. Use ballistae to farm barb towns with no risk.

Step three. Realize that you can farm towns for massive amounts of food.

Step four. Use said massive amounts of food to feed an army, well into the -2 million upkeep point, far beyond what you can support.

Step five. Get raided a few times, and sleep over a course of a night.

Step six. come back online to a lot of refuges.

Step seven. Whine and complain about how you should be able to upkeep your soldiers, that you cant have gotten in the first place without barb farming.

Step eight. you now become an Evony Pro.
