With the free speed-ups you could build a better city, than a level 5 NPC, quicker than you could conquer one. IMO the only NPC worth conquering is a lvl 10, then only for research, the amount of effort you have to put into demolishing buildings in an NPC (cotts, unneeded builings, stable, forge, workshop etc.) to build a decent amount of barracks is not worth it.

I totally disagree. You don't get free speedups for a level 5 town hall or wall, and they cost a lot in resources.

You can tear down the cottages in a few minutes and use the resources gained from tearing them down to build your extra barracks.

Same with farms. Either keep the farms, and a level 5 farm is beyond the speed up and they cost resources, or tear them down and use the resources to build sawmills.

The abatis left over from the NPC are still there and they will give you hundreds of thousands of wood for building, I think it was over 400k. That is a good bonus right there.

The level 5 beacon tower and the relief station are very useful and they take a lot of time and resources to build and it saves you a lot. Most players would even forget to make them, then when you need them you're sorry.

The level 5 acadamy takes time and resources, it's not an instant speed up and at level 5 you instantly get the benefit of your construction research.

I've build up cities on 4 different servers and done it both ways and it is a pointless waste of time and resources to build a city from scratch. The instant speed ups give you the equivalent of a level 2 city.

It can be better sometimes to capture a built up city from an abandoned account, but usually they are built up crazy and I tear everything down anyway.

yeah,i do need to start from scratch...lost all my cities...Well,obviously not the LAST one...i dont wanna build cities...takes a lot of time in building from flats...NPCs might do the trick...anyone know how to conquer a lv 3,4,5 barb??Troops required to do so...
(I said conquer...not FARM)

The main question I have is this... How much time do you have? Are you a member of a big alliance that will protect you? If so... will that alliance send you resources to get going?

nah....not a veryyyyyyy big alliance...time is never enuf in evony...<sigh>
