Thread: Building a 6th city.

    Default Building a 6th city.

I recently built quite few new cities from my well established account. I have all level 9 and 10 techs, and enough resources laying around that I can transfer 10 million of anything without concern. From that perspective, I've developed a way to rapidly get a new city (founded with 250 workers) up to reasonable defenses. Here's what I built, in order

    1. Adjust your tax rate to 40% or 50% and max your production. Build a level 2 town hall.

    2. Transfer in at least a million of every resource. With that much food, I skipped building a rally point to send the 250 workers back.

    3. Build as many level 3 cottages, level 2 iron mines, level 3 lumber mills, level 3 quarries, and level 4 farms as I will have in my final city. This takes advantage of the free speedups.

    4. Build a level 5 academy. (construction tech level 10 cuts building times in half!) If you have won speed-ups from the wheel, this is a time to use them.

    5. Build a level 1 inn, and a level 1 feasting hall. Transfer in a hero with high politics, and make him/her the mayor.

    6. Build one level 3 iron mine, a level 2 forge, and a level 1 workshop so you can build city walls.

    7. Build level 7 walls. This lets you build all of Evony's defenses. As soon as you have a level 1 wall, start building traps. If you transfer in resources, it takes over a week to build up defenses from nothing to filling up level 9 walls.

8.Upgrade your Academy to Level 9. When your academy goes from level 8 to level 9, Engineering tech level 10 doubles the durability of your walls and wall defenses.

    9. Now you are (kinda) defended, so get to work building everything else.

I recommend building a Feasting Hall first (well, as soon as possible anyway). Ship the mayor next so he gets all of the building experience. That's my step one. You're all the way up to lv5 academy before you even ship a mayor? That's quite a bit of experience someones missing out on.

In fact, if this is a guide for a 6th city, skip the Inn altogether. In fact, if this is a guide for a 6th city, just skip everything and conquer a lv10 NPC.

So the mayor gets experience from building buildings? I thought the mayor's experience came from being mayor over time.

I build the feasting hall after the level 5 academy, to save half the time spent on building a feasting hall. I gave up the mayor's bonus on a trivial amount of production. What else did I give up?

As for conquering a Lvl 10 NPC, I'm nowhere close. I'm still farming level 5s and 6s. Of course, that means I can not get my freedom, justice, or nation medals.

why you have to build your 6th for, you just have to conquer it from some one else or take over a lvl 10 barbs. Never build anything from scratch unless you really have time for that.

Well... the sooner you get a decent mayor over there, even a low level one with a good base stat, the better. All of your construction times will be less with someone in charge. Plus, your gonna have a slew of resource fields running with no politics bonus.

Mayor does get experience. Even though its not a mind blowing amount for all those low level buildings... why throw it away?

I've built resource cities from scratch. It's a lot quicker to build them from scratch than it is to convert a lv10 NPC.

oh yeah, I forget resource cities. I got my first 3 cites as resource cities but the rest are just lvl 10 barbs.

You are right about the mayor.

One thing I forgot to mention...when you are building wall defenses, save Archer Towers (AT) for last. They do almost no good in small numbers, where as traps, rolling logs, and trebuchets kill well even in small numbers. I learned this when being pillaged.

I use an Archimedes Note or two if I have them to speed up the multi-day building of ATs. My most recent build was topped off with 6500+ AT in one build, using an Archimedes Note to speed it up.
