    From what I'm trying to do, hero with 70 att or hero with over 100 doesn't matter. Just have to send a decent hero for the main attack.
    The heart of the matter is definitely to remove the most rockfalls or trebuchet so they don't kill ballistas.
    The best I found out yet is to send waves of warriors prior to the main assault and the best number or warriors would be around 400. Less could be wiped out withtout damages, more don't destroy more rockfalls. 400 warriors destroy 20% of the rockfalls and 11% instantly regenerate, so you effectively kill 9% of their rockfalls with each small warrior attack. With 5 or 6 waves, for a total of less than 2,5K warriors, you destroy about half of their rockfalls and only lose around 200 ballistas out of 700 sent.
    I'm trying to send more ballistas, but I don't think it will change the losses.

    Timing was off after 2 waves, lost between 290 and 299 ballistas. I'll see when the reports are in in 10m LOL (huge lags today). What's peculiar is that the 4 waves that got late didn't get through

    I've tried that but included ballistas w/ the same result of about 200 ballista's lost. Considering that trebs have the greatest range of 5000, I doubt catapults w/ transports and no meat shield attack will result in zero losses.

    sague, I'm beginning to think the 200 loss is customary starting from NPC6, is it in line with NPCs 7 to 10?

    First off Gratz to you for taking the time out to try and work this out.

    Secondly i do not think Catapults will have much effect as they are slow and by the time they get into range i suspect any trebs and logs that have not went off will do so and just waste more troops.

    The Ballista and archers you send should have taken care of the wall defenses by the time the catapults get into range.

    I have not tested this at all so i may be completely wrong. This is just an assumption.

    I use pure archers and transports to take NPCs 35k Archers with a 2-3k loss and an average 110-130 hero does the trick. I use 60k plus some fodder and i just send my ballista for that "just in case my hero isnt strong enough" on a lvl 9 with 8k losses. I have 4 cities with 17-19 racks and can produce archers fairly quick. I know Ballista are the way of lvl 5 and below but if you arer going to lose troops why not keep your ballista and kill off something you make (or should) way more often.

    This is my latest for a lvl 9 with no previous attacks to knock down any defenses.

    The losses you all are incurring are from the "Dead Zone" if i may call it that. See defending troops move first so that gives them the first advantage. Secondly Your troops dont have 5000+ range and cannot attack the walls without getting hit for 2-3 rounds. So they are basically walking through the line of fire unguarded.

    When they reach the range to attack back they wipe the floor with the npc troops. The main problem you will always have is range .... attackers just dont have it and if they did people would only make catapults to do PvP and would make the game no more fun if you send 100k catapults (you would have this many if it worked this way) and defeat all wall defenses with no losses and if gates were open start destroying troops before any damage was done.

    Just accept the losses or go with an all archer attack on the NPC ... 35k archers and enough trans for a lvl 7 will do with 2-3k losses. Archers can be made faster and are usually more plentiful than ballista.

    Hi,

    First of all, congratulations on the post, it's very easy to understand.
    well, i have a quick question (2 actually):

    Currently i have about 4,5k ballistas and my RallySpot is lvl9 (techs maxed out). Since the post recommends to have about 17k, i wonder if sending just the 4,5k i have on the first wave will make any difference? (it'll take too long to produce 12k+ ...)

    Second question is, with rallyspot at lvl9, do you think i can suceed the first wave sending 90k archers? (with corselet and warhorn but unfortunately don't have any war ensign...)

    ps: i'm not concerned much on archer loss, but i appreciate if you can give some estimate on how many of them i'll lose.

    ps2: i read all the posts, but since there are many information, i may have missed/forgot if there's an answer for my questions...
