The thing with VM is that even if you activate it, your city is frozen completely. They will still be at the same stage they left at when they come back. If you leave VM off while you go away, you can queue troops to last until you come back, techs etc, and have resources and an army, extra prestige and honor perhaps, when you come back, instead of just being completely wiped out.But having to pay for VM is creating 2 types of players those who can affor it and those who cant. So anyone who has a real life situation and cant pay will find himself with no cities when he comes back.
Also, I agree with the statement that war doesn't take a vacation.
You might wanna read some of the posts in this thread.
Doin' it free and out of the goodness of their hearts is more likely to cause trouble.
Sure, there are other ways to do it that don't profit them, but when it comes to addin' restrcitions that people will complain about, might as well use it as a way to pull money in to pay for 80+ servers.
im in the royal navy and work on nuclear submarines and have to go to sea once or twice a year for anything from 3 weeks up to 13 weeks.
10 cents a day is too much, 5 cents a day i would pay.

Was going to keep myself out of this thread until I saw this.....Last time I checked the OP said "feel free to discuss" and not " Feel free to complain to each other"......
Anyway my two cents(no pun) would be that you have to pay to not be considered an inactive player. Isn't that in the TOS somewhere? Maybe not the TOS, but I remember seeing it somewhere....
You get this entire game for free......this is a feature that you have to pay for in order to use, I have no idea how much space it takes to support each individual account, but there is a reason why inactives get cleared every now and again, right?
Don't like it? Dont USE it.
