I have to say that even though I'm a bit annoyed that you have to pay for it, I don't really care. I agree with Snuffy though, it is too much to pay to go away for 1 day. It stops abuse, but also stops use. So really, all it's going to be is another little perk for paying players, that for a non-paying player like me, doesn't really care about.

At the moment the game can be played without having to actually pay to get extra, as it is, all you get by paying now is a little bonus, but nothing that can't be achieved by hard work. But this might trigger the start of perks which aren't available to the non-payer, which will actually unbalance the game (because imo paying doesn't unbalance the game). I'll leave it up to you to expand on that...

yes, just defending the best city still works, but not really fair because paying players can just pay to freeze their accounts and not worry about losing a city.
I think what I suggested is a start, I do hope they consider some free days before, evony charged players 10/day. on every time they activate VM.

One could argue that the free cents from the wheel can offset that, but otherwise I agree with what you're sayin'.

I don't like to think that they'll start down the road of pay-only items.
I completely forget who suggested it (maybe ABakker or Foxy?) and don't feel like crawlin' through a score of pages to find it, but someone suggested makin' it an item that can be won from the wheel and/or be given out as quest rewards/free packages that would encourage the item with their intention behind it (prevent abuse) but take away that "money-grubber" look they gave themselves with this system.
I mean, truce is an item...why can't VM be, y'know? Works exactly the same. And even at $1/day I don't see it recievin' the same response this has, purely becasue it would be an item that anyone could get and that they could give out now and then.

That could work, but I think it is fine as it is. If I was to make a vacation mode, I would make it like this. And saying ppl are after mod positions just because they like the idea is pretty lame. This way, people will only activate VM mode, if they really, really feel they need it

Besides, if you can attain it "free" from wheel, we are back to the possibility that "Mr. Noob" is going to put on VM mode when his account is getting crushed

Is this available NOW? If so, where. Thanks. And frankly, no-ones forcing us to pay money, and yes if you can't afford it you're discriminated against. But vacations are for those who can afford them, no? If you can't afford to go away, then don't I say. There are many ways to protect yourself other than paying. Strong alliances that know how long you'll be gone for, friends to look after accounts. Dumping cities. There are plenty of free options for people who are more ingenious because they have to be because they have less money. I know, I'm one of them.

I agree, a strong alliance will be able to protect you a long way. Embassy which allows you to garrison troops helps a lot. To take a city from 100 -> 0 loyalty takes a lot of time, several hours, so in this time your friends can garrison you. My alliance owns pretty much the whole state, which again, helps protect you. Ofcourse, you are not 100% protected, but all of the above stuff helps, actually
