    Talking Forum Warriors: an analogy

    Happy one month anniversary Civony.

And what a first month it has been: Lots of problems, lots of posts in the forum.

What there has not been is lots of communication from administrative or development staff.

Today's announcement of server5 opening is post #77 for umgeadmin...

    let that sink in

...even if we add in the 15 from Kevin (Kevin WHO? you may be wondering) the total number of posts from the people running this game does not qualify them yet as a "senior member"

They have enlisted a number of moderators to help with the difficult task of maintaining order and coherence in these forums. While there have been some issues, for the most part these people are doing a difficult job well. Don't forget they are unpaid volunteers. They are tasked with trying to be helpful and friendly, and they don't appear to be getting much support from UMGE.

To put it in game terms, they are the warriors; they need some archers.

Right now they're more like the UN. Stuck in the middle, with no idea what's going on most of the time, and with limited power but stuck with the task of somehow making the fighting stop.

I still prefer my analogy. The implication was that they are the meat shields.

    Hiya,

We've put forward several ideas towards the tech guys and developers.

They're currently in the process of looking into some sort of PR team/Laison officer/ Better way to communicate with us,(the community on these forums).

Ive had a reply stating that they are looking into this as we speak,

Soon as anything comes around this, i will let you know, or another representative will.

They are aware of this situation and they WILL sort it out. 125% guaranteed.

If we dont hear anything in the next couple of days ill highlight the issue again.

    Thanks,

I hope that at the very least, the organization makes a learning experience of this and adjusts their gameplan in order to make sure that their own people aren't this badly out of the loop again.

Thank you Gazza, your efforts are appreciated.

I like this game and much of the forum community. I would love to see UMGE take a more active role as participants here.

It would be silly to deny that there is not a language barrier to overcome, so many things point to the fact that much of their paid staff are not likely to be english speakers. Not posted to encourage any kind of racial/ethnic/socio-political discussion, just identifying a probable cause for the obvious absence of more administrator/developer posts.

I also hope the "meat shield" term in my second post was not viewed negatively. Warriors are an important part of an army, but are much more effective (and suffer fewer casualties) when supported properly.

And is that like all Americans need to study a foreign language in America?

Just because you have to study something does not mean you become proficient.
