Actually Evony denies these allegations and any relationship to these events.

This is what was stated by Benjamin, Vice Development Director of Evony, LLC in another forum:

"1. Evony, LLC has had at no time any association with a company called *******. In addition, the company is not owned nor has it ever been owned or managed by an individual by the name of Eric Lam. To be clear, Evony has absolutely no legal or financial connection to this individual or anyone named on the legal action by Microsoft Corp.
    2. Evony is in no way a Chinese based company. Evony is a registered corporation in the United States with millions of active players in dozens of countries around the globe.
    3. Despite the blatantly false claims of Mr. Everiss to which your journalist sourced, none of the owners, director or employees of Evony have ever been, or are currently parties to, any legal action by Microsoft Corp.
    4. In regards to our decision to initiate legal action in Australia. Evony, LLC has hired Warren McKeon ****son. With tens of thousands of fans and users of Evony in Australia, it is only natural for our legal team to initiate proceedings here as part of our broader international effort against Mr. Everiss. Despite numerous attempts to reach out to him, Mr. Everiss has shown no interest in the truth and has continued to violate international journalistic standards in his libelous assaults against our company. We would hope that upon reflection of the clear facts in the case, you would join us in urging Mr. Everiss to come clean and set the record straight. And I thank one of your editors, Gow, for stating that indeed those articles were quite defamatory."
I have heard the rumours, read the blogs, and have nothing more that I can add other than my own opinions.

A little digging into Evony Online reveals a couple of oddities. The terms of use for the game discuss the relationship between players and Regan Mercantile US, LLC, not Evony, LLC. It proved a bit difficult to actually find the state of incorporation for Regan Mercantile US, LLC and get more information about the corporation. Some research points to Regan Mercantile being related to a Hong Kong company and more than one site claims that Eric Lam, who is a well-known individual (perhaps infamous is more appropriate) in MMORPG circles, is the CEO of the company.

As late as June of this year, payments were made to U MGE, then m icrosoft filed their suit and Evony switched to C ivony and U MGE.com no longer was linked to Evony, and it was then switched to the American based r egan m ercantile LLC. They can claim with a straight face that EVONY was never part of gold f armers...but no such claims were made about C IVONY. M ercantile LLC has many many ties to C hinese companies if you look up their business records and know where to look as well.
Parent companies, subsidiaries and other such records are public domain in the USA, so its not very hard to find their ties.

Yeah, I can see why Evony are so furious w/ this guy.
That's beyond anti-Evony that's jus' blog meets flamefest...personally I don't see the side of it that's meant to be comin' from a professional journalist..jus' the side of some guy who hates the game a bit too much and wanted to rant.

I agree about the Queen of Evony post...he put that all up in a very deliberate way...and ofc had no right to be usin' those images w/o permission...I wonder if that'll come up in court...
I read wat some of the things that Bruce worte and the way i see it its a review from a gamer to a game right?

I dont see why he has to remove any of the blogs or post he has made in some websites. and hes not the only one talking about evony there are more then 50 websites talking about it.

He's made accusations, some founded, some not; both are very serious, though. Evony denies everythin', either way. The ones that are founded he could possibly have let slip by, but tossin' in the ones w/ little or no backin' really didnae help.

And based on what you quoted that I said, I think I made it clear enough...thas not jus' some standard gamer postin' his reviews on a site, thas a journalist; he's expected to have higher standards of journalism which he didnae meet in those articles. He wasnae postin' anythin' like high-quality reviews, he was jus' trollin' Evony flat out. If nothin' else, thas jus' really bad journalism.

As for removin' them...well Evony accuses him of lyin' about everythin' he said; they obviously want him to remove the accusations, founded or otherwise, because it damages their company. Again; he might have slipped by w/ the founded ones, but tossin' in the blatant accusations w/ no backin' really didnae help; they want them wiped off the internet.

... And, amazingly enough, this topic is also OLD NEWS.

It is not appropriate to be discussing ongoing litigation.

Opinions are of no concern here. Let the attorneies do their jobs.

I doubt that Bruce Everis has ever played Evony at all.
His blogs are about information that he has gathered from the internet and I think we all know how reliable that sort of information can be at times.
None of his blogs were actual reviews of the game.

Discussion of pending litigation is really not appropriate. I'm glad your question has been answered, but I am closing this thread.
