This addresses a core problem. If the object is to form alliances, then individuals don't play this game, alliances do.
So a player comes in, spends time (and sometimes hard earned money) building up his domain. And after Beginner's Protection is up, said player has really only two choices: surrender his city(s) to an alliance and having to follow directives from it's leaders or get gobbled up by an enemy alliance looking for easy pickings.
To try and start your own alliance is seldom practical in an established server. Just more easy pickings. Should said player keep jumping to new servers all the time?
Someone somewhere must at some point realize that not all of us find fulfillment in collectivity.
A second point: if indeed alliances are the object, shouldn't it follow that players benefit more from them then they actually do?
How does an alliance cut building time? Or research?
Where does an alliance make you better perform in the game?
It seems to me that the only real advantage an alliance gives a player is to help him/her survive in Evony.
And the benefit of constant warring.
No one plays a game just for the privilege of surviving in it.
Isn't the benefit of bein' helped to survive enough of a benefit? One would typically be grateful at such benefits bein' given out so easily. They protect you (not even by reinforcements; by bein' in an alliance at all is protection from unneeded raids) and will defend you. Attackin' w/ them will help you grow.
Not everyone benefits from collectivity? Ok; deny your nationality, leave your country and live on an island, goin' to war w/ everyone then; see how strong you feel then. It's human nature to group up and fight in packs; humans are not solitary hunters. And although people might not like bein' in an Alliance...well..it's either that or be "gobbled up" right? Which do you like more?
And even at that, you can consider the alliance your extended BP w/ some attached risks. Join an alliance, let them protect you and follow their rules (you didn't build TH 5+ when you had BP did you? Thas followin' rules, tooooo...) until you are developed enough; then you can easily go out at the world on your own. I know some folk who are high up in the ranks, and others not so high that arenae in an Alliance and jus' kick around on their own. They don't get torn up so much. People only get bullied shortly after BP 'cuz everyone knows that they have no way to defend themselves...later in the game, jus' by lookin' at your prestige folk are less inclined to attack for fear of losin' (consider defence bonuses, here) even if the target isnae in an alliance.
People do play games jus' for the privelage of bein' able to play, bein' able to survive. That's what everythin's about....normal, every day real life is jus' an endurance test; a survival excercise as it is...but if you can make the most of it and find some way to spice it up; why don't you? But I bet that still doesnae lead you onto your own tiny man-island declarin' war on half the world...
Ok if you would have chosen a better alliance they would have reinforced you and counter attacked for you if you were off line.
[Bye bye!!!! Oh, don't you just love noobs!]
Be nice we were ALL new once.
BTW No one can take your last city all they can do is Zero it out. Warehouses help to hold more of your resources in your city. Use them until you do not need them. Once you get stronger you will find no use for them.
If you are not strong enough to properly protect your first city you really should not have a second. Once you have full wall defenses and an army worth a defense you really should not start another city. That is just how I look at it.
It is the game to conquer your opponent. So it is your job to make that hard for them. And they did change the rules of the game back a little bit ago to make it harder to take a city. It used to be that I could come in and drop your loyalty down to 5 before I had to space out my attacks. Now that stops at 12. That literally added 42 minutes to the time to conquer a city. And if all else fails you can always teleport your city out and move to a safer state. If you can not move and you are at war, make friends with some of your neighbors. You might find that if you become friends with them they will be less likely to attack you. Good luck this is a great game once you get up there and are actually able to play it.
Thank you Darkbrady for that prompt response to my post. Is it too much to ask that you post in English? It is a second language to me and your way of writing it leaves me mystified.
It would seem to me that, in a medium where the only communication possible is through the written word, a little care should be observed to make sure a plain understanding is achieved.
A reminder to everyone to please be courteous to each other. I don't like insults being cast around.
Wildor, with regards to the need to join alliances...well, there are all kinds of alliances.I belong to two that don't dictate a single thing to me. They are just there to help each other, and I do my part by helping out my alliance mates. Further, we don't just help each other to survive. We share tips and strategies, we provide resources to power level each other, we support each other's armies with shared food so that our more aggressive members can go a-conquering, we share intelligence on the players surrounding us and on other alliances for our mutual benefit, and we pass time with some really interesting chats.
It is my opinion that the alliances are the best and most important part of the game.
If I did not think so, I have an entire rack of pc games that are single player and allow me to go about my merry way without being harassed and without having to work alongside others. I choose this instead. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I find it highly appealling to be a part of this whole group adventure.
Alright F.B. Point taken. If this is indeed an alliance game, I can only ask that it be advertised as such. Which I don't believe has been done.
At any rate, there is no place for me in this game then. No big loss, I know.
My alliance does not dictate to me what to do. I can refuse to do something. This game is unbalanced. I have have said it before. A lot of people have complained. Just try your best and remember life is not fair. Even a game-thingy thingy isn't.(Because its made by ppl you know). Alliances with head-strong leaders don't live that long, or if they do, they will die soon. My Host and Vice Host are wonderful ppl who aren't idiots. Most of the time.
plz i have 8 cities and there fine
Im Back. Love new little emotes
