Thread: Prestige is worth nothing

  1. #1

Thumbs down Prestige is worth nothing

i just found out that even tho im way ahead of many alliance members im still way behind in prestige. i start to read what the [removed] pres is all about other than a ticket in to top alliances and find out that it is [removed] and nothing but an activity label. As i was told, since my TH is much higher level i get much less pres for the same upgrades, lol?

it is not even dropping when you loose the buildings that gave you the prestige in the first place?!?! does it have to be so useless? im loosing all motivation when i see how i can abandon my main city and still have 100k press with nothing but a [removed] farm left in the game.

a MUCH better solution is to run it like utopia run networth. In utopia they use "networth" and it is showing the power of a player. all taken into account (resources, army, buildings etc.) and once you loose stuff, you also loose networth equaly. not this bull like pres in evony.

    argh... waste of time

Yup; prestige is a useless stat. It's not overly important, and was and never is displayed as such by the game; people jus' bank too much faith in it.

As for the net-worth idea, you might wanna post that in the Suggestions thread.

    Absolutely right.

I see prestige as more an indicator of how long they've been around and what their life achievements have been, whether they still have them or not. End of the day, someone w/ 2m pres is gunna know a fair chunk about the game; so you know to make sure you're prepared before you even start to scout them out.
Someone w/ 200k pres hasnae been around for too long and the odds are that they're still learnin' to a degree; you can be more relaxed w/ them until you find out more.

Regarding Prestige, your post was flawed on quite a few accounts.

    1) Any player can migrate to a newer Server. Assuming they are "still learning" would be a costly mistake.

    2) Any player can willfully reduce their Prestige, and it has been commonplace for players to do so. It stems from Prestige's lack of "Prestige". There's no point to the number so it's more entertaining to reduce it and let players attack you.

    3) A player with over a million Prestige doesn't mean they are knowledgable. Any player can horde Prestige. Its easy and people do it all over the place.

So in the end, the only things a player should take into account is a Scout Report, and the number of allied cities a player has around them. Those are the only two things that matter. Prestige & Honor are worthless.
So was I. My use of them is fine.

You might wanna note a few things about my post before you drag up flaws.

1/ I said "odds are". Not guaranteed, but the odds are that they are still in learnin'. There are a lot more new players w/ low pres than there are experienced players w/ low pres. There's jus' no question about that. I didn't assume or consider yourself safe; I said that you can relax a bit until you know more

    2/ refer to point 1

3/ I didn't say knowledgable; I said they'd know a fair chunk of the game. Even pres-hoarders have to know certain aspects of the game to get up to 2m pres. Also said to be prepared before you start to scout them, I didnae say that you shoudl be terrified and prepare a monster def, jus' to expect that they're more likely to have somethin' goin' on for them than someone w/ 250k pres.

I absolutely agree; scout reports matter more than pres. You may notice that I did mention to find out more about these two hypothetical players after you take your initial glance at their pres. Relax, if you choose, then scout for the low guy. Make sure you're ready, then scout the high guy. On that note, though; I still don't trust scout reports. Why? Because I can easily ship off my entire army and half my resources lettin' you think I have nothin' more than 50m food and 25k archers in that city. What do you do when send an attack and I pull 5m archers back in then?

Allies around them I completely agree. Whether any of them are strong is not isnae the issue; jus' the fact that they can all group-effort reinforce is enough to put an attack off. As for honour...well...thas easier to gain/lose than prestige so I don't even look at that.

To all those who care, probably very few of you, I'm gonna' start commenting on a thread by simply reading its title and thinking up an answer. Iff you think about it, it keeps the thread on-topic.

    Prestige is Worth Nothing:

Wouldn't do that too often, mate. I've done it a few times.

But I'd agree, prestige isn't anything but a ticket to the top alliances, as someone said.

    Or COOKIES!!

    Back on topic:

Prestige is useless once you reach a certain point, when your just starting out it shows who knows what they are doing and who needs help to get their head round the game.
