    Default Second City Woes...

I am very frustrated with building a second city only to have to build it from the ground up again. I can understand it is being done to keep a better pace on expansions and such but really the only thing that would have to happen is to make the buildings that much more expensive to build so that the are built at the level of the buildings in the first town... mines and farms etc could remain individualized but barracks and academies should not have to be raised from level one all the way up... well I don't think so anyway... it makes it very discouraging to even try for a second city at all and I may just demolish the one I have... Anyone else frustrated by this?

Move your political hero over to your new city to aid in construction.

It's realistic...you can supply it heavily w/ resources from your main...use your main to send a high politic mayor...have your construction research lvl'd up....buildin' your second city should be a breeze.

And if you don't feel like buildin' upwards, you can always jus' cap someone elses pre-built city.

Sorry have to disagree with realistic... If a school is opened in another part of a country that school does not have to wait for first graders to get teaching degrees to teach the same courses that are taught at another school....

An embassy should also reflect the primary government body for which it is a part, and you can't tell me that every millitary installation that is built now days has to revert to using stones and slings before they can re-learn everything the rest of their country knows so they can fight with tanks and jets...

So again I have to disagree that the manner in which it is implemented is not realistic...

But yeah I will deal with it one way or another. Thanks for the thoughts though.

If a school is built in another part of the country funded by an already existin' school does it have to be built from scratch or does it jus' magically materialse?
No; it has to be built from the ground up, jus' like the first one.

As for researches...I'd say the same thing...if you start up a colony in another country that hasnae been built up to a city, those people arenae jus' gunna automatically have all your knowledge; you'll need to construct a college and teach them; but you don't have to do the initial researches yourself anymore 'cuz you've already done it. But to teach the new city, you'll want the academy.

Ever wonder why you have schools, colleges and universities in every city you can think of? No...it's not jus' a convinience thing.

Idk whre you're pullin' stones and slings from....you mean you'd want to jus' build a lv1 barracks and be able to train b'listers w/ it, jus' because your main city has it? Well barracks need certain upgrades to go from buildin' pikes and daggers for your pikemen and scouts, all the way up to bein' fully equipped to construct seige mechanics. I mean...if you own a military workshop and can construct seige mechanics, and you build another one a hundred miles away, do you expect it to be able to do al the same things immediately? Ofc not; it has to start small, then you start to upgrade it and implement all the fancy machinery to be able to start buildin' bigger things until it can match your initial one.

That upgradin' process in Evony has been appropriately named "Upgrade". It's wholly unrealistic to expect a fresh, new village to have all the capabilities of it's foundin' city w/o doin' some serious upgrades.

There is no re-learning involved. Build your new academy up.

You sound like an Age of Empires player looking for the same development progression in a totally different game. The funny thing is that other posts have talked about how this game is a total copy of AoE.

The school analogy is not the right one in this case

I've never heard this type of question before...it really does seem obvious to me...when you build a new city it makes sense that you'd have to actually build it...
    Is this jus' me?

    Nope
But in reality you will use your best engineer, contractor and so on to build it faster
Which in this game would be your best politics hero
