I would set up a test, but it'll take a few days in the very least to get it ready. My gf's account's low on troops atm and I don't think she'll be too chuffed if I kill half of them off as soon as she gets more.
Need to work out a good setup for it as well. What troops to have on each side to come to a conclusive result...
Been thinkin' about that. Could knock down most of my ATs and send my troops out; would still need to wait for her to train some up, though.
And still wonderin' what a good setup for the test would be.
Got any ideas on how to keep it balanced? Dunno if jus' 50k ponies and 50 scouts would do the job well enough to show that they're workin' in all player-city situations.

Your results look to be different between scouts/foot troops vs scout/cavalry. Would a better theory be that scouts and workers wait until all of the melee foot soldiers are gone before advancing, but attack immediately if no other foot solders are in the battle?
A scout bomb with 1 warrior negates the scout bomb and they do nothing... they wait for the warrior to die before doing anything. But does a scout bomb with a cavalry still work.
In other words, if mixed with cavalry or archers, scouts should rush up in round 1. If mixed with warriors/pike/swords, they wait.
There are reports of full rainbows (includin' HB units) where the scouts survive.
If this is the case, scouts only move if there's nothin' but ponies on the field (when they're most needed to move, at that). Sounds a bit sketchy, but worth testin' to be sure. I'll keep in mind to include that.

This another infantry run on a valley. Oddly enough, even workers will move and die before scouts will.
Guys, I think we should keep the tests on player cities, for the reason that valleys cant be considerd valid.
The battle starts at scouts range, and since enemy troops target highest value, they probably ignore scouts.
