This is on a report I've been wantin' for a while, but today seems to be an important day for it for some reason. W/ you askin', someone on another two threads askin' and at least two PMs about it, it seems like it'd be a good time to try speed things along.
I'll do what I can to put one together.

Edit: posted it on the other thread so will jus' quote it over here.

Since I only had enough spare scouts for two attacks I couldnae definte it down any further. Havin' the swords at Fedecs ratio was incorrect, and allowed the scouts to pass them over and get the archers, wherein they got killed. Havin' a much higher ratio (I used 2:1) the scouts slammed into the shields relatively harmlessly.

I am trying the layering you suggested in here and have had mixed results.

I attacked a level 10 with a level 22 npc hero. reason I selected this one is that i actually had less losses versus this hero than a level 4 hero in an adjacent level 10.

Here is the attack using a hero with 148 ATK

    http://battle44.evony.com/default.ht...422327fc60.xml

And here is the same NPC being attacked by a hero with level 211 Atk

    http://battle44.evony.com/default.ht...f2dfbcbc26.xml

What surprised me is the difference in losses was hardly any different between the Heroes with widely different attack values. The losses for the 211 atk hero were also the same using a 2980 warrior, 10 sword, 10 pike, 95000 archer rainbow.

I am not great at numbers and the reason I post this is that I am trying to understand why it all looks the same with widely varying heroes, and why the losses were the same compared to my other rainbow that is'nt nearlyh was wide or deep.

Are level 1 NPCs in level 10 barb cities trap characters? Every single time I face a level 1 NPC I end up losing more archers than I do vs NPCs over level 10.

    Uhm...I don't...really know what you're askin' :s
'Cuz barb cities are typically referred to ask NPCs
By NPC do you mean Hero?
If so, then it varies greatly. Jus' like your own heroes you might get a lv1 in the w/ 69 attack and a lv10 w/ 15 attack.
You want the lowest level possible because there's no way to know the base stat, but the higher the level means they higher the potential by far; it does not mean the higher the attack at a definite rate, though.

    Only 211 you say? Huh...
I would have said that shift starts happenin' at around 250.
After a certain point in hero attack it stops havin' benefits to layer up heavily and actually becomes more beneficial to layer up less and pump more archers; but it also becomes more useful to make the layers heavier.
After a certain point (again, I'd have said well over 250+ attack) the NPC hero attack stops matterin' as you kill most/all of the 400k before they reach you and damage you take is mainly from traps/ATs.

Truth be told, I don't honestly know all of it. There are some weird things involved when it comes to NPC10s that we've not been able to explain or even put reason to. Have a read of the last few pages of this thread (page 5 onwards) and you'll see what I mean.

Note that in the reports with 151 Hero you hit all the traps (11000) while the other reports you only hit 8360.

I think that the reason you have the same loss even you using different hero

your losses only varied because of the traps...

but the reason they _didn't_ vary much at all was because you were one-hit-killing everything your archers were paired up with

assuming you are lvl 10 on all techs, a hero w/ even 100 ATK, accompanying 95k archers, could one-hit-kill the 400k warriors, and also the 3666 AT's the lvl 10 npc had... your only major source of losses was from the two rounds the AT's had against your archers before they were gone
