    So in my simple example of archers vs AT.
    The archers march until they are in range (taking hits along the way) and then once they can fire at the ATs, they just stand (not moving again) and fire only getting 50% damage until they either win or die?

    Pretty much. Again, a reason why you need at least 4x the number...also a reason why archers tend to die en masse without doin' a whole lot of damage in attacks.

    S'also why 100k archers versus 300k archers usually results in 100k deaths vs about 1k deaths. ;x

    @Brady: That would be ex-immortal enemy... I quit server 100 cuz it's just too agitating to keep up with 2 accounts... I personally like NPC farming and fixing casualties on only one account.
    So, the cost of the units, not the numbers, make the difference?
    Yes, I know those terms are coined, cuz I've made up terms myself... now if only I had the time to make a guide and put them in there...
    Also, were the pig latin words intentional or was it 4 AM when you wrote the guide?

    Thanks again for the reply.
    Still unclear on order of attack.
    In my example of archers vs AT, are both sets of arrows in the air simultaneously?
    Or does one side fire, inflicting damage, and then the other side (with its reduced numbers) get to fire.
    When calculating damage, it would seem important one way or another.
    Any evidence either way on that one?

    Damage is fired at the same time. Damage is calculated at the same time, before casualties, then casualties are removed simeatansouly.

    Easy enough to prove; if it was done one after the other there would be a lot of reports of units bein' wiped out w/o causin' any amount of damage.

    Got it. Thanks.
    Had another question about how engineering level would affect damage suffered by the ATs in my example.
    The engineering description says "walls and fortified units".
    If engineering level does indeed apply to ATs, would it be added on to the defense attribute? or the life attribute?
    The life attribute seems more realistic if it indeed does apply to ATs.

    So ATs with base defense of 360 result in the original attack damage being reduced by 36%.
    Applying an engineering level of 7 or more to the ATs defense attribute reduces any damage thrown at it to nothing (;] actually less than nothing)
    Applying that same engineering level to the ATs life attribute takes the ATs life attribute to 3400 and above, just making it more difficult to kill.
    Sound right?

    Aye, engineerin' affects the life values of walls and ATs, not defence; otherwise it'd be far too difficult to break them down with most attacks doin' next to no damage.

    Extra life is all; jus' takes longer to kill them, and considerin' the base life value of ATs...well, you can see why they're so widely used...

    So if I got it correct, my overly simplistic example of 5000 archers vs 1000 ATs - all with base attributes.
    This battle would last 26 rounds and would result in a Defense victory with all 5000 archers killed and 540 ATs remaining.
    Sound right?

    Christ, you weren't screwin' around...

    Did you do all that manually?
    Well, with base techs, 1k ATs should rip apart 5k archers; they need compass/archery to even get a match with ATs, and that's not includin' hero and combat techs+meds.

    Forgive me for not readin' all of that, I'm gettin' swamped with an alliance issue right now, but the final numbers sound about right.
