Found this interesting.
Ran the simulation again with arch 10 added in on both sides and the actual combat started earlier (as expected with the greater range on both sides) but lasted longer (28 rounds vs 26) and resulted in greater AT loss (355 remaining AT vs 540)

I assume you've simulated the ranged damage penalty so my guess is since the range is higher, the Archers spend a greater amount of time in the 100% damage zone as opposed to earlier.
However, the ATs is benefiting from the same so I'm not sure why they don't kill the Archers at a faster rate.
Ran again with arch 10 added in on both sides and offensive compass lvl 9.
The actual combat started earlier -round 7 (as expected with the greater archer speed)
The fight lasted 22 rounds and resulted in the same 355 AT surviving.

edit: I figured it out.
Basically the Archers got an extra round compared to last time.
Without Arch10, Archers moved to 1250 (>1200) and got shot at.
With Arch10, Archers moved to 1750 (<1800) and got shot at but started shooting back.

Efward, try running the sim with Compass4 or Compass8. That should give you the same results as the Archery0 case since with either Compass level, Archers would stop just outside of their shooting range (at 1850 to be exact).
