The attacking Cav didn't do anything more than be an extra meatshield.
The defending Cav moved to 1500 (i.e. 100 away from you). Your melee moved to point 100 too (except for your Cav) and blocked the way. As I have found, Cavs have a "hit nearest" priority so it hit your Sword first even though the Archers are in range.
The reason you got more loss without the Cav is because you lost a layer. Note how many rounds it took to kill all of the defending units. 5 rounds for 2 type of units meant you didn't 1-round the Cavs or the Warrior (if I have to take a gander, 2 rounds for Cavs, 3 rounds for Warrior). So without your Cav, some Warrior broke through and did damage to your Archers.
So basically you can do 1 of two things:
1. Send more layers. or
2. Send more Archers to 1-round each unit type.
