Thread: Ideal tax rate

  1. #1

    Ideal tax rate

Ok, so we all know that: 100 - tax rate = loyalty
also that: Tax revenue = (population X tax rate / 100)

So disregarding loyalty, what is the ideal tax rate in regards to the revenue?
(what tax rate should i set my cities at so i get the most money per person?)

    You know the answer. 100%

Once you finish researching gold means nothing anymore. Then it can go back to 0%

How can you run 100% and not lose population? Comforting (disaster relief) every 25 minutes.
All you need is a decent food production and a decent size population. Just remember to reset the rate before you log off, or all the hard work will be for nothing.
If the server crashes, I take no responsibilty for the damage done, that's the risk you take.

alright, but what would it be if you still needed gold? isn't there some sort of tax rate that keeps your revenue high, along with your population? or do you just have some ideas as to which is the closest to what i'm talking about?

Wherever you set the tax rate it will have an effect on loyalty. It's a pretty simple equation, every 1% of tax will drop loyalty by 1. There is no 'ideal tax rate' as there are too many variables.
    What is your population limit?
Do you need to train a lot of troops?
Do you need large amounts of gold for research?
How much do your heroes cost/hour?
Are you likely to come under attack?
Can you produce enough excess food to comfort regularly?
Sorry but I dont have a number that will be set and forget and give you a large tax income.

20% would be ideal for beginners, or as long as your heroes are getting paid and your gold Net Income is running at green, you should be ok.

50% tax will give you the maximum possible income unless you do the 100%/comforting thing, which is good but not always practical.
If you know your going to be offline for a while, put the tax at 50%.

For me, %50 tax rate has proved pretty effective. Remember to go on random cottage-building/upgrading sprees to keep production rates high!

I would not advice a 50% tax rate. A 50% or 100% tax rate is only effective if you are online, only. Plus, having loyalty at 100% will make conquering your city a challenge to most.
