Go PENGUINS!!!!!
Last season was the best season I have ever seen. I think it actually rivaled watching Lemieux and Jagr tag-teaming goals at the first live hockey game I ever saw. The playoffs were edge-of-your-seat games throughout the entire series, don't you think? I had the odd experience of actually cheering on Detroit because I so badly wanted to see them meet up with Pittsburgh for a grudge match.
Crosby is good, but I think Evgenie Malkin is severely underrated. He got some good face time this past season though, and maybe people are finally starting to notice him. But I will happily say that it's the goalies who owned the show last year. When they were on, they were ON. Throw a couple wild bounces into the mix (pucks bouncing off fallen players' chests and making a goal...geez) and you destroy their confidence and can kiss that game goodbye. I'm not used to seeing that. Both teams had a strong history of unflappable goalies. With two such well-matched and aggressive teams, you'd think it would come down to the power forwards, but it was the goalies and a few rogue defenders that made all the impact. I found it fascinating!
