Default barbie to be banned in west virginia?

America's most popular doll, Barbie, is celebrating the big 5-0 today. Since her creation on March 9, 1959, she has experienced fifty years of dream houses, pink convertibles, romance ups and downs with Ken and testing the waters of every profession imaginable.
Unfortunately, Barbie's big day may not be celebrated in West Virginia. Matter of fact, Barbie will be nowhere to found in this Appalachian state - a local lawmaker is using his influence to pass a law banning Barbie dolls statewide.

Jeff Eldridge thinks the iconic Barbie doll places too much emphasis on physical beauty and is unhealthy for young girls "emotional and intellectual development." He thinks they send the message that “if you’re beautiful you don’t have to be smart.”

No word yet on whether or not the bill will pass, but he's giving it all he's got.

Not sure how we feel about this - many of us played with Barbie dolls as young girls and we turned out perfectly fine! What do you think? ps. what'd barbie look as a 50 year old barbie anyway?

    Cool

First I'd like to state; I am a man.

Second; I have an opinion on this.

Third; Barbie was a bad idea in the first place. Just look at Bill Clinton.

So what will you do when they call your name and you're not ready to go?
Everyone will stare at you and tell you what you know
That you're in too deep and you can't quite keep your secrets, one and all
We might just make it after all, on our own

the only thing I find weird about them even though little girls never keep barbies clothes off is that they can look nude and I wish that the plastic chest had a plastic non removable top covering the weird area on the barbies.

I think there's far worse things than barbie dolls...

The whole concept of the "beautiful or bust" idea ravages society.
Young girls are taught that wearin' make up from young teenage years is the only way to look good. Personally, I find makeup repulsive at best. The last gf I had who wore makeup made me physically sick to get too close to all that chemical facepaint.

i agree, i don't wear make-up on a regular basis, only if i go to like a wedding and even then ill wear bare minerals which is like a mineral based make up I don't see a reason for wearing make-up

omg it's so tiring putting it on every day,i dont know about other girls but in the morning im always half asleep so i have no energy to put it on,last time i wore it was for photo day at school and even then i only wore a bit of concealer, mascara and lipgloss.I find the natural look better, dont get me wrong i do wear it sometimes but like not to the point where you cant tell who i am anymore lol

yea i guess it would make sense since its mostly children who play with them, but i guess the fact that there are no real details in that area dont make it wrong
