And people with sense know that Deathnote isnt real. If i ciould writes someones name in a book and it can kill them well hell i would try it out.

Its fiction and some people have over excitable imaginations

This provoked a similar thought to me as the discussion on swearing and bad language. I think we've become a society that treats children like weak creatures that need to be protected and shielded from eveyrthin'. When you stop a child from watching tv just so they don't pick up any habits or naughty words, or you stop them from playing a mainstream because it looks violent, you wind up blaming everything else.
Some kid buries his head under the sand and they blame it on death note. Ok, so he was obviously inspired by it, but he should still think for himself about it. Ok, he obviously didn't realise, but what about the billion other kids who did? Should a show be banned based on a one in a billion rate of accidents?
Adults crash cars more often than children are negatively influenced by things, but I don't see cars being banned; does that mean we're old, strong adults who know what we're doing?
Why not treat the kids with some respect, too and allow them these things. They'll certainly find, learn and pick up things but that's the point of being alive, right? Whether it's good or bad, it needs to be done. Overprotection and oversensitivy will only lead to unstimulated robot kids.
The innate and acquired should both be there. Foxy, for example; your son likes cooking and explosions...one is acquired from your enjoyment of cookin', the other is innate (or is that the other way around? ) but why should anyone ever say it's a bad thing?
Bans, watersheds, censors, filters, blockouts, blurries, blackovers and however many other things that otherwise "protect" I think has just gone far too far and needs to be calmed down. Kids are stronger than they're getting treated; I'm sure they can survive the real world if we actually let them have some of it.
