Thread: Does Evony try to charge to much at one time?

Default Does Evony try to charge to much at one time?

So I've been here for 2 months, and I think it's a great game. I'm a bit biased having grown up with all the different strategy games through the years though. I've noticed, however, that they try to charge an exorbant amount for any type of special package, and the price has been getting higher and higher to qualify for these free packages. The $5 for 250 was a great deal, but then it went downhill from there.

Lets start with their email "$4560 free cents!" In order to get that, you have to spend $3000 dollars. Who in their right mind is going to spend $3000 dollars in one sitting on a game? I'm going to throw this out there and wager a guess, anyone who is reading this thread did not spend $3000 to buy 30,000 coins and got 45,600 coins for free.

Now we've got "Spend $50 and get $18 free!" Again, way to much for my budget. I come from a long line of MMO's, and I'm used to paying $15 a month, and I WILL NOT go over that limit for a monthly subscription which, IMO, that's all cents equates to be. So I was fine with spending $30 every two months, and getting 6 packages a year. October happens to be the month I was to spend $30 to get 300 coins, and get my free package, so I click that little gift box to see what package I'm going to get, and apparently they have decided to do away with the packages you get for spending $30, so now I won't spend anything and they lose out on $30 and I will keep playing the game. So who loses out in this deal?

If I am misinformed, and they still have $30 packages and they just decided to place the information on them elsewhere, please anyone let me know where I might look. Until some sort of reasonable package comes along for $30 or less though, I won't be spending anything until then. IMO, Anything more than $30 is to much to spend for a subscription to a game. Otherwise, I'd just spend money going out to eat and watch movie every night.

I am of a similar mind. I don't have an unlimited amount of money to spend on games either and the latest offers hold no appeal to me. I guess if they fail to make money from them they will try something else. I hope they return to the smaller offers soon.

This is General Discussion so theres no need for the OP to do anything different in their post. I know that so many gameplay questions get posted here that it's hard to tell it apart from Help & Questions but it's a forum for discussion and that's what the OP has done.

The question is a tangled mess. If the OP is unable/unwilling to be clear, then there is no reason to take them seriously.

The question is clear enough, just lacking an o in too:
"Does Evony try to charge too much at one time?"

Once you read the post the meaning of the question is quite clear. In fact I found it to be a well written and considered opinion.
The question is for the poll.

As it wasn't a question perhaps it is your difficulty in understanding the post

To my understanding of the post It was stated that perhaps Evony is not offering a fair or reasonable package that may be within the bounds of the posters budget.
I myself feel the original $30.00 package was a fair 1, could have maybe had some variety
The 250 coins for $5.00 was again a reasonable package and well affordable by most players from the looks of all the complaints posts when it didn't quite go to plan
I agree the other packages on offer at the moment seem very steeply priced for the offered return.
I am sure the devs will eventually come up with some sort of offer that would make everyone happy
In the meanwhile I'll continue to spend my $30.00 for 300 coins which seems to do me adequately anyway

The question comes from an ill-informed position. It is based entirely on angst, frustration and self-serving ego. This thread was made for no purpose other than to serve a fragile ego.

Does anyone actually think Evony, LLC will change it's charges based upon a thread post? This is but one example of how ego runs these forums. As IF a post here will make a highly successful company stray away from what is working quite well for them.

Post 10,000 threads of this nature and nothing will change because 10,000 voices are silent compared to the millions who play - many of whom pay.

My advice would be to play as best as you can with what you have to work with because that is what the majority of other players are doing.

I don't think OP was actually expectin' this thread to change anythin' (I may be wrong, here) but as Rodri said, this is the General Discussion. There's no need for a question or a final result to come of the post; he's jus' got a topic he wants to discuss w/ the rest of the community.

Switchin' the deals from smaller amounts to larger amounts seem reasonable. Some folk do have more money to spend than others and would rather a larger package bonus to meet their extra funds, then swicth later to accompany the folk w/ lower budgets and everyone's happy. Although I'd defintely agree that $3000 is completely over the top.
Never in my life have I heard of a game expect anyone to pay that much in one month before. In fact, I'm pretty sure that most games have limits that reach no higher than $1000/month. I can even think of games where people actualy make alt accounts to buy more in-game currency w/ and send the items to their mains because of the limits on it.

Smaller amounts allow more players to participate. Could both smaller and larger deals run concurrently? Of course.
