I am all for it being hard to get medals but come on.... it being close to impossible??? wow... I used to run one of the largest private MMORPG servers back in the day so I understand both sides of it. Also, the prices to buy 'cents' is ridiculous. I will not pay $30 USD for what little you get. Its outrageous. I wish we had a way to sell our items for cents. I would love to be able to trade items with other players.

    Just my thoughts

Just a thought! Instead of running players away and expecting pay to play players to spend crazy money why not put some advertisements in on the home page for revenue??? You would make your money from the medals from the adds and could up the drop rate to around 7-10%. This would be verry easy. I mean evony advertisement is everywhere on the internet and im sure it isnt free. So why not make more money that way and keep your customers/players happy????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????

    THE ROSE MEDAL CEILING

I've been playing for about a month. I play on both 67 and 69 - out of two vibrant and active alliances of a hundred players each, not a single rose medal has dropped to date. Not even one. Of two hundred players, maybe ten altogether have broken through the Rose Medal Ceiling and made it to Baronet - guess what all ten have in common?

I'm one of those ten. Partially because I'm ridiculously, stupidly lucky (I hit two precious junior medal boxes on the wheel my first week.) But even 2 wheel-loves-me medal boxes weren't enough to propel me to Baronet - I coughed up $8 worth of coin to obtain the one last Rose medal. Oh, I was patient - I tried to get a rose medal just like everybody else, by attacking valleys every way from sunday. After about two weeks of this, I realized NOBODY had won a rose medal. I watched the global chat, I scanned the forums, and I googled it at least two hundred times. Just like everybody else. And guess what? It felt wimpy, like I'd copped out and abandoned my teammates by buying a medal box. If I'd won even a single rose medal the hard way - if all that persistence and effort had paid off - it would have been vastly more satisfying. Then I could tell my teammates to hang in there. I could say, "Don't give up, I won a rose medal - so can you." But I didn't. Nobody did.

So yeah, I'm a paying player - and not just that $5 for 250 promo (although you don't want to know how many teammates I bankrolled that day. Let us say for the record the number is somewhere in the neighborhood of several.) On 67, most of the players in my alliance scratched up $5 - only that once, mind you, and all of them dutifully bought adv teleports instead of medal boxes. (I'm so proud of you guys. My team is great.)

Here we are almost three weeks later - and not a single rose medal on either 67 or 69. Two hundred players who've probably logged somewhere in the neighborhood of fifty thousand valley attacks altogether. Won a scant handful of other medals - not a single Rose Medal. Call me Captain Obvious, but a lot of people are sick of it, myself included.

I'm a gamer, and like every other gamer, games that cannot be won are a waste of my time.

I'm a baronet. I won another freaking medal box (a medium medal box) on the wheel a few days ago. Can you guess what I need to get to Baron so I can make a fourth city? If you guessed 3 more Rose Medals, give yourself a gold star and move to the front of the class. See, I still have to clear the speedbump of Major before I can think about turning in medals for Baron.

...Can you hear how excited I'm not?

So why on earth would I even consider buying an $8 medal box when I already know there's a very real chance I'll actually have to spend $16 to get to the point where I need to spend yet another $28 to get what I want?

Duh. I won't. I already spent $50 on this game, and for what? Another icon representing endless wait times, generalized dissatisfaction and a weird nagging sense of guilt that I'm somehow oppressing my friends. It's not fun, it's not satisfying and it doesn't feel like a game - it feels like an object lesson in capitalism.

It feels a lot like working a minimum wage job - knowing you'll never actually get ahead but if you plug away as hard as you can every single day, maybe you'll break even. I should have done my microecon thesis on Evony.

If the Rose Medal drop rate doesn't change, I will adhere to the cultural norm of Americans - I'll seek greener pastures elsewhere. Evony, for crying out loud, by definition a game is only a game if you can win. If you can't win, it's more like a death march. Really pretty graphics and snazzy Flash, but it's still a death march.
