Their Wheel is paid for by in game Gold, no Real World Money required, so it is still FREE (just like our wheel) which makes the EXTRA GIFTS Free, not a bonus tacked on to a paid for Package.
This was a great and unexpected idea, and everyone I know on that site is loving this. People are actually buying stuff with Real World Money just to keep the game alive and going so they can have their loyalty rewarded again in the future.
Everyone that plays these games know they must make money to stay around. Reward the players and you will find some that have never spent money tossing in a new $5 here and there just to help keep things going.
Their will always be those that NEVER PAY, but the more enjoyable the game the greater the odds that one of those will cross the line and become a Casual Pay.
Empire Craft pleased the fan base and is getting rewarded greatly for it (Including receiving $20 of my money in thanks for the Freebie, even though I missed it... I have still yet to pay here because I can not trust the site with all the mis-wording it uses). This is a prime example of how to properly market your game (word of mouth) and how to please the fan base to increase Profits.
Reminds me of the Facebook App called Cafe World. you make coins by selling food, but you can also buy some coins from them aswell. but you can make coins easily anyway, without buying anything.
But people still actually pay quite alot, and the forums have next-to-none hate...
I suppose it's because they're not forced to spend money, on a game (like Evony's Medal boxes) but they actually want to help it.. eh.
(Oh, and by the way, Cafe world reached 10 million members in about a week.. and contrary to Evonys 10 million, CW has many active members.)
Edit: Also, if talking about other games is against the rules (which i don't know why it would be, i'm not advertising it) then i apologise.
