OK this is just an addition to the other resource or max your production guides I have seen out there. Basically I have heard to many people say incorrect information about levels and the value behind them. So let me clear up a few things.

All resource field levels produce on a add up bases. Meaning their level, and ever level below them added together and times by 100. This means when you upgrade a resource field it gains 100 times the level it is going to. For level 6, that means 600 more production.

So here is a little chart of values.
Level Produce time factor (see end)
lvl 1 100 1
lvl 2 300 2
lvl 3 600 4
lvl 4 1000 8
lvl 5 1500 16
lvl 6 2100 32
lvl 7 2800 64
lvl 8 3600 128
lvl 9 4500 256
lvl 10 5500 512

Now seeing as to how the time doubles each level and the resourced needed to increase (I have no gathered all of this data yet, maybe some other time when I start my 1st 3rd city I will be able to collect it). This means that lets say 5 level 4 farms out produce one level 9 and take MUCH less time and resources to make.

Now the time factor is interesting. Since every level is double the amount it means that you not only have to add up the level you are working on but all those before it to get the total time put into making what ever level you are working on. For instance that level 9, time factor of 256 to upgrade from 8 to 9, however it took 128 to get from 7 to 8, so adding them all up you get 511{including level 9} (1 less than the next level, which is cool except when you stop to think you're basically spending more time).

Basically what I am saying is the game does enforce common sense. When you upgrade your town hall and get those 3 new resource fields, do not just let them sit there. Bring them up equal to the rest of what you have and then go back to upgrading the whole. Why? Because it is more cost effective and time effective (normally) to upgrade the lowest first. Upgrading and having a level 9 might feel cool and be fun to do, but if everything else is still level 1 or un-built, then you wasted a whole of of resources making that one field.
The ONLY time upgrading a higher level resource field makes sense is when you are going to be away and you have nothing in town that needs to be upgraded.

Also another thing to look at is not keeping everything the same equal level. For instance farms are much easier to make and to upgrade. The level 9 farm takes about a hour to upgrade (so using my data from before, it should take about 2 hour to make a level 9 farm from nothing). While other resource types take longer to level up. So spending the 2 hours per farm will get you level 9's but might only give you level 7 mills or level 6 iron mines.

Just something I've been thinking in my head and wondering if anyone would agree with me. There are some guides I have seen that say upgrade them straight to as high as you want, which just waste possible resources. Oh well. I hope I at least introduced some new concepts (haven't seen most of what I said before)
