I just want to point out a couple of things.
There have been some enterprising types who, having signed up for ievony, have taken it upon themselfs to create some click-on ads to get new players to sign up via their ievony accounts.
It's against the rules of these forums to post links to other sites unless you have the permission of the administrator.

I should also point out that this is off-topic discussion and some of the OT crowd do not like seeing any threads which have anything to do with the game in here.

Yeah, we'll just blame iEvony users . You know, because an enterprising iEvony user is going to pay the money to put graphical and flash ads on significant websites for a chance at receiving some iEvony credits (limited to 300/day), instead of, you know, actually buying game coins.

I don't buy it. And even if it is true, it doesn't change the fact that the iEvony model encourages spam.

I will say one more thing. I'm BORED of the whole ads thing.
I was fighting against them before you even registered. Just about everyone who has been around for a while is BORED with the ads thing.

The horse is still kicking. I'll grant that some people have debated the ads long before I arrived, and many probably are tired of talking about them. Fair enough. There is a reason I don't create threads about the ads. But that doesn't mean I won't discuss them when a thread exists and is in context (for however long that thread may exist...)

The fact remains that the ads remain, and people are legitimately more than a bit bothered by it.

It also doesn't help matters much when threads about the ads mysteriously disappear, or when people come out and say "lol those ads aren't around anymore" despite the fact that, well, they obviously are, because people are STILL SEEING THEM.

This topic keeps coming up because people still care about it. Why not just leave the thread be? Anyone who is bored by it, in my humble opinion, could just as easily not read it, the topic makes it fairly obvious what you'll be looking at if you click on it...

Other ads are still appearing on sites that do not have adult content by nature.

It might be a problem with one of the ad networks, and it might be that they just haven't all cycled to the new ads. Neither of these would necessarily be Evony's fault, granted, but still, why the need for two ad campaigns, one honest, one dishonest?

It's not the sex ads that trouble me so much as it is the dishonesty behind the sex ads that troubles me. Even if they're only going to go on adult sites from here on, it doesn't change the fact that using a pair of lingerie-covered breasts as an advertisement for the game isn't exactly truth in advertising.

I might excuse even that if it weren't for the fact that Evony is dishonest in other ways, beyond advertising. Like the way that, "like Civ 4, each technology description begins with the quote from Civ 4" (arksark.org). Like the spurious relationship between Evony, UMGE, and a certain "gold mining" site (which apparently has been added to the wordfilter here). Like the way that images in some advertisements have been blatantly ripped off.

Taking all of these facts into consideration, Evony would do well to turn over a new leaf and consider honesty as the best policy. The fact that they don't troubles me.

Well, I agree with you there, and I'm of the opinion that I shouldn't of had to post that at all. I agree that there is alot fishy with Evony, and although I can understand some of it for legal reasons, When other actions of theirs are added into the equation, it begins to make me doubt alot.

The ads though, I can't tell you anymore then that for that is all I know. Overall, the poor ads are less likely to be seen now compared to how they were.
